💚The three Baltic states together with partners from Israel are organising an online networking event to foster the international collaboration between research and higher education and research institutions, public sector institutions and business enterprises to meet the challenges caused by the changing climate and propose solutions for our cities and regions. The event will focus on 4️⃣ thematic areas within #HorizonEurope calls for 2024 y and help participants to find partners in projects related to: ✳Green energy (renewable energy sources, biofuels) ✳Adaptation to climate change (preparation to negative climate change effects, raising public awareness, involvement of all levels of public authorities) ✳Climate-neutral cities, including the #NewEuropeanBauhaus (urban planning, pollution reduction and mobility in cities and suburbs, involvement of all levels of public authorities) ✳Sustainable mobility (transport, logistics) 🙌Participants are invited to submit a short presentation of their organisation, which will be shared among them for further networking. ⚪The event is free of charge. An estimated 675million people in Sub Saharan Africa and South Asia, particularly those living in extreme poverty, displacement, or remote areas struggle with access to energy services.   What are some of the challenges contributing to the lack of access to marginalised communities and what solutions can help?   I will be participating in the International Vienna Energy and Climate Forum, a solutions platform to accelerate low-emission, climate-resilient development around the world, to help answer this question.   Moderated by Mattia Vianelli, Head of Energy at Practical Action, I will be participating in a panel discussion titled “Building inclusive energy systems for the extreme poor, displaced and last mile communities”, which will delve into the possibilities of fostering a sustainable and equitable energy transition that leaves no one behind.   Taking place on the 3rd of November at 11am CET, on the panel I will be joint by (Denise Umubeyi – Practical Action, Chantal Umutoni Rutazarira – Participant @ Practical Action’s RE4R I Programme, Maryam Javan Shahrakic – UNIDO, Megan Taeuber - the Global Platform for Action. “We’re going to have to start building more cost into our systems to be able to survive more extreme conditions,” shares Paul Holdredge, BSR Director, Energy, Extractives, Transport, and Industrials in his conversation on climate resilience with Antony Funnell, Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) RN podcast. “A lot of the equipment that we have out there was designed five, ten, maybe even 30 years ago…against standards that were designed even years before that. The issue is that the extreme heat that we’re seeing is happening much more frequently and at much higher levels than anticipated.
