🌍 Exciting Development for ISO Net Zero Standards! 🌍 Starting June 2024, BSI will lead an international process through ISO’s Climate Change Management Committee to convert the ISO Net Zero Guidelines into the first international standard on net zero for organizations. By using this upcoming international standard as a foundation, organizations can: 📍 Develop a credible net zero strategy 📍 De-risk their approach to net zero action 📍 Avoid delaying urgent steps 📍 Prepare for the future net zero economy BSI conducted case studies of four organizations, including interviews with relevant stakeholders. Some findings and outputs from these studies and interviews have been included in this report. This report reflects the experiences of four such organizations, showcasing tangible changes made, their remaining challenges, and their major lessons learned. These updates mandate organizations to incorporate climate considerations into their management systems, specifically under Clauses 4.1 and 4.2, focusing on assessing climate impact and addressing stakeholder concerns related to climate risks and opportunities. The revisions affect both general and industry-specific standards, like AS9100 and IATF 16949®, highlighting the importance of climate action across all sectors. Certified companies are encouraged to proactively integrate these considerations to mitigate risks, enhance resilience, and support global sustainability. Sustainability is now in every standard. In support of the "London Declaration on Climate Change", the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), assessing the need to consider the impact of Climate Change on the ability of a management system to achieve its intended outcomes, has decided to add two new textual statements to a number of existing management system standards and to include them in all new standards under development/revision. In response, the ISO 9001:2015/Amd 1:2024 standard was published on 23.02.2024. Accordingly, the following have been added to the relevant clauses of ISO 9001; 4.1: The organization shall determine whether climate change is a relevant issue. 4.2 NOTE: Interested parties may have requirements related to climate change. Accordingly, IAF published the attached document. The document defines what Certification bodies and their clients should do.
