It is important to reflect on the progress that has been made, while continuing to raise awareness and acknowledging the challenges that still exist ~ continuing the commitment to creating a more inclusive and equitable world. Pride Month is about acceptance, equality and celebrating the work of LGBTQ people. But it isn’t just about the Pride Month flags, the LGBTQ Pride Month facts or Pride Month resources because LGBTQ inclusion should take place 365 days of the year. Making assumptions on sexuality, gender and sex, based on heteronormative ideas is not acceptable. Our plays share example of unacceptable behaviour at work or school. We work hard to educate, inspire and ignite discussions. Allyship in the workplace is crucial for inclusion and equality. Research shows that having just one strong ally can help reduce the possibility of suicidal thoughts of LGBTQ people by 40%. June is not just time for celebration, it’s also a time to raise awareness of issues that might be experienced being part of the LGBTQIA . On October 14, 1979, a march took place in our nation’s capital: the National March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights. Commemorating that march is one of the reasons October was chosen as LGBTQ History Month. Throughout October, we honor and celebrate the incredible contributions and resilience of the LGBTQ community. At CRA, we recognize the importance of creating an inclusive and accepting environment for everyone. As we honor LGBTQ History Month, let us reflect on the powerful events that set in motion our march toward equality for all, our progress, and our setbacks since then. As Pride Month begins, many companies change their logos to rainbow colors in support of the LGBTQ community. This visibility is a good start, but it's essential to translate this support into meaningful actions that promote inclusivity throughout the year. Performative allyship, such as changing a profile picture, isn't enough. True allyship means taking substantial actions: • Implement policies that protect LGBTQ employees from discrimination. • Offer comprehensive health benefits that cover LGBTQ specific needs. • Foster a workplace culture where everyone feels safe and valued, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. • Support LGBTQ causes and organizations not just in June, but year-round. Visibility is important, but it's just a start. Let’s hold these companies accountable and demand real, lasting change. #pridemonth
