As a Business Development Manager in the animal health industry, I understand the unique challenges of managing time effectively while working in the field. Balancing client meetings, industry events, and business development initiatives requires a strategic approach to maximize productivity and drive meaningful impact. Here are a few time management things I have found invaluable: 1. PRIORITIZE WITH PURPOSE: Identifying high-impact tasks and prioritizing them is crucial. By focusing on activities that align with strategic goals and offer the greatest potential for impact, I ensure that my time is well-spent and contributes to long-term success. 2. STRATEGIC NETWORKING: While in the field, networking opportunities abound. I prioritize networking with intention, seeking out connections that align with my professional objectives and contribute to meaningful relationships within the industry. 3. FLEXIBILITY AND ADAPTABILITY: Field work often presents unexpected challenges and opportunities. Remaining flexible and adaptable allows me to pivot effectively, ensuring that I can address urgent needs while staying focused on long-term objectives. 4. SELF-CARE AND WELLBEING: Managing time effectively requires a balance between work and personal wellbeing. I prioritize self-care to maintain energy and focus, ensuring that I can bring my best self to every interaction and initiative. By embracing these time management strategies, I am able to drive productivity and impact in the field while maintaining a focused and purposeful approach to my work. How do you manage time effectively in your field work? I'd love to hear your insights and strategies! #TimeManagement #Productivity #FieldWork #AnimalHealth #BusinessDevelopment"

This really hits home as we talk about this a lot on our team. We have a tendency to post only the "highlights" of our work (and I am guilty of this)--even when we're at meetings in exotic places--where I spend 90% or more of my time on my laptop, in the office, a meeting, a hotel room or on my sofa at home. When I am actually at conferences, I pull 10-14 hour days usually in a windowless convention center or other meeting space (and yes, there are social events, after which I then have to catch up with emails) with just enough down time to do this again the next day. So if I end up seeing some wildlife after the conference and I post those photos, few understand all the work behind it. I haven't been in the field for my own projects since 2018, but it doesn't mean I haven't been doing conservation. This creates a distorted reality for what truly makes impact in conservation. *Note to self: post the boring photos too 😀 #denverzoo
What does a career in conservation look like? I usually post pictures of cool bats, interesting field work, and exciting trips. However, I often feel bad for constantly posting my highlight reel and worry about the impression this leaves on early career scientists. The truth is that conservation often looks more like this photo. And conservation also looks like meetings and phone calls and reports and data and emails and briefings and writing until you can't see straight. To me, conservation is more about managing people than managing wildlife. Maybe this doesn't need to be repeated but I want to say it to support everyone in the field: field bios, office managers, contract specialists, admin and support staff, etc. You don't have to be cold and muddy every day to have an impact but I hope you always have the option to go outside and remind yourself why you do this work.

Hi LinkedIn! I’m Anna – diving deep into email marketing by night and championing animal welfare by day, all from the beautiful Koh Phangan, Thailand. 🌍 My Story: What began as a one-year holiday to explore the world turned into a decade-long journey, leading me to settle permanently in Koh Phangan, Thailand. Here, amidst palm trees and beaches, I've found my paradise and launched TailMail, a new venture with a fellow freelancer aimed at revolutionizing email marketing for the pet niche. 💼 Professional Scoop: For me, email marketing is not just a job; it’s where I thrive. Over the past 6 years, I’ve evolved from crafting compelling copy to designing impactful email campaigns, managing client portfolios, and strategizing with Klaviyo to drive significant business growth. My journey has led to managing over 10 client accounts, mastering the nuances of Klaviyo, and propelling businesses to 7-8 figure revenues, with email strategies accounting for 60% of that triumph. 🐾 Animal Advocacy: My heart belongs to the street dogs of Koh Phangan. Beyond rescuing and rehoming, my work with Phangan Animal Care for Strays is a testament to my dedication. 🎯 Mission-Driven Life: With the creation of TailMail, my professional journey and passion for animal welfare have converged. This venture is more than a business; it’s a platform to amplify our impact on both fronts. Why I’m Here: I’m here to make a difference. TailMail embodies this by pledging a perfect age of our earnings to aid animal rescue efforts. Our mission is to empower businesses in the pet niche while making a significant impact on animal welfare. Ready to join us in this journey and create success stories with a purpose? Let’s connect and explore how we can work together to make a better world for animals and businesses alike!

Hired as Field Operations Managers last year, Will Batson and Jarret Fowlkes of Commercial Maintenance have been promoted to Junior Account Managers. “They are proactive, client-focused, and detail-oriented,” Customer Relation Manager Josh Wilder said. “These promotions are well-deserved, and we are excited to see Jarret and Will continue to thrive in their new capacities.” A graduate of Mississippi State University, Will joined Michael Hatcher & Associates in July 2023. Jarret, who graduated from Christian Brothers University, has been part of our Team for nine months. Both said they love our company’s camaraderie and family-like atmosphere and agreed that their stints as FOMs will be an advantage in their new roles. “Having been a Field Operations Manager, I can communicate issues to other FOMs about properties so they can relay that to the crews,” Jarret said, adding that from mowing and mulching to edging and trimming, “I wouldn’t ask them to do something I wouldn’t or don’t know how to do. That’s why I think communication is so important.” Their experience as FOMs ultimately benefits our Commercial Maintenance customers. “When I’m out on property or talking to a client, I can better explain our process of how we do things and give them a better understanding of what needs to be done and the timeline it will take to get it done,” Will said, noting the importance of building and maintaining positive client interactions. “We want customers to be able to trust us with anything they need or want done on their properties.” Check out the work that Will, Jarret, and our entire account management team can do for your commercial property at www.hatcherlandscape.com. #CommercialLandscape #CommercialMaintenance #Excellence #CareerGrowth #CareerDevelopment #CareerAdvancement
