Mott's importance to national security is linked to energy security. A sustainable and reliable domestic energy sector is critical for the United States as energy demand continues to grow. Mott's significance to national security is tied to the security of the energy sector. A sustainable and dependable energy sector within the country is crucial for the United States as the energy demand continues to increase.

Maryland deserves Energy Choice! As a resident as well as employee with a retail energy company, I believe all residents need a choice.   Retail Energy Companies Impact the Maryland Economy Supporters of proposed legislation, SB 1/HB 267, claim the legislation will protect consumers. The reality is SB 1 is anti-consumer, anti-business, and anti-environment. It will essentially end retail choice for Maryland’s retail and gas consumers and drive business out of Maryland. The retail energy industry has many well-established businesses that have responsibly served more than 500,000 Maryland consumers for years. If passed, the legislation will tell Fortune 500 companies, like NRG and Constellation, the Maryland market is essentially closed for business. Marylanders will lose jobs, and the loss of the retail energy industry will have a significant impact on Maryland’s economy. A recent economic impact analysis shows just how much of an impact SB 1 will have. In FY 2023, NRG had a total impact of $24.9 million on Maryland’s economy. That includes $5.7 million in direct impact and $19.2 million in indirect and induced impact. Further, NRG supports 150 jobs in Maryland, including 78 direct jobs and 72 indirect and induced jobs. The company pays $18.5 million in local and state taxes. Of the total taxes, $13.8 million are from direct sales and tax payments, and $2.8 million are from direct income tax payments.  This economic impact analysis demonstrates how one retail energy company impacts Maryland’s economy. Consider the cumulative impact of the many reputable companies who have operated in Maryland for years. SB 1 will drive these businesses out of the state. Ironically, in an attempt to clean up the market, the legislation could simply leave it with only the worst actors. Keep your voice and your choice.
