MCWD's Administrator, James Wisker, had the opportunity to join the Minnesota Stormwater Seminar Series as a panelist at the September seminar earlier this month, discussing how emerging policy issues and climate change may impact the future of stormwater management. It was an informative discussion with leaders from across the industry, including perspectives from the national, state, and municipal levels. James spoke about the watershed's unique point of view, highlighting MCWD's integrated approach to address water resource issues, from contaminants to the current and future impacts of climate change. At MCWD, we believe that water defines place and that clean water and a healthy natural environment are essential to create and support sustainable, thriving communities. Collaborative and integrated planning with land use partners is necessary to achieve this vision because our water resources are inextricably connected to the land and changes on the landscape, from infrastructure and transportation to community development. Thank you to Andrew J Erickson from the St. Anthony Falls Lab for helping moderate the panel discussion, and thank you to all of the other panelists — Chris Kloss, EPA; Seth Brown, P.E., Ph.D., National Municipal Stormwater Alliance; Nicole Blasing, Minnesota Pollution Control Agency; and Randy Neprash, Minnesota Cities Stormwater Coalition — for providing each of their perspectives on stormwater management and policy! Listen to the full conversation at the link below. https://lnkd.in/gNpTHA_t Learn more about MCWD's plan for climate action: https://lnkd.in/gXqzYeZp #stormwaterpolicy #stormwatermanagement #climatechange #waterresources #thrivingcommunities
