Two of the best corporate lessons I have learned : 1. Some people sound too good to be true. Unless you work with them. 2. People can even be your best-friends. But never be in the same team during the month of March.

As the bells of the New Year rang, we not only celebrate a fresh start but also reflect on the inner drive that propels our changes. A simple yet powerful story illustrates how understanding "why" can unleash boundless potential. In story: "As New Year's bells rang out, the city buzzed with joy. The usually stern security guard now greeted passersby with a smile, transforming from gatekeeper to warm host due to Lai See (red pocket money). With the holiday's arrival, the guard's change went beyond appearance. Once strict, he became a magician of joy, revealing a world of laughter and warmth to all who approached. New Year Lai See's magic erased his worries. His seriousness turned to laughter, and his solitude to warm greetings, sharing stories and blessings with all who passed by. As the holiday ended, his smile and tales lingered in hearts. He proved even ordinary roles can shine brightly, connecting people beyond celebration." The important question is, how do we apply this principle in our daily lives and work? Firstly, asking "why" is always a good start. Whether it's personal or professional development, understanding the inner motivations that drive us can reveal the true reasons behind our pursuit of change. Once we grasp this, we can find the driving force that propels us forward, whether it's striving for career success or personal growth. Just like the security guard in the story, when we find the "why" that makes us willing to be better, we can unleash our potential and face every challenge in life with a more open and positive attitude. This is not just about New Year's resolutions; it's about achieving continuous personal and professional growth by understanding and harnessing our inner motivations. Let's start exploring and discovering the motivations that drive us forward in this new year and ask ourselves, what is our "why"? Years ago, when I entered the world of 12-step programs, one of the sayings that I heard was to have "an attitude of gratitude." As I understand it, this does not mean that I don't see (and accept when I can) all the things around me, including the big, bad and ugly; rather, it's about where I put my focus. If my perspective is that the world stinks, then pretty much everything I look at and experience will stink. If my perspective is to be aware of the good things that happen to me, through me, and around me, then I will tend to notice more of the good things happening to me, through me, and around me. No matter what is happening around the shell that is me, I can put my efforts into what I think, how I think about things, and the result of what I see. The Value in Being Responsible Responsibility is a crucial aspect of life that goes hand in hand with confidence and the feeling of being in control of one's own life. It involves making rational or moral decisions on one's own, being answerable to others for their behavior, and being trustworthy and dependable. Being responsible means that we are fully matured adults and can choose our response to life's events, rather than reacting by habit or reflex. This attitude is reflected in our behaviors towards friends, family, clients, and customers in our community. Feeling responsible is essential for living up to our potential, enjoying satisfying relationships, and living happy, fulfilling lives. To teach our children to be responsible, we should be responsible ourselves, explain the benefits of responsibility to them, and gradually increase responsibilities as they grow older. Praise their efforts and let them know that you see them as responsible, and watch them grow into it. By doing so, we can help our children live up to their potential and enjoy satisfying relationships with others.
