I'm thrilled to introduce "[Re] Treats," our new venture aiming to redefine sustainable hospitality by blending the comfort of urban hotels with the beauty of Norwegian nature. Our concept is built on the foundation of temporary, off-grid high-end hotel rooms, meticulously crafted from recycled and traceable materials, focusing minimal environmental impact in every piece. Temporary is a keyword here. We don't own the nature, we loan it from the coming generations. The inception of "Re-treats" was inspired by discussions with landowners, often farmers, intrigued by tourism's potential but overwhelmed by the initial barriers, such as high costs, complex bureaucracies, and the steep learning curve of the industry. To address these challenges, we devised a risk-free, comprehensive solution that empowers landowners to tap into tourism without the typical upfront investments or uncertainties. Our model includes full management of logistics, from booking to room cleaning and maintenance, allowing landowners to enjoy a hassle-free introduction to tourism and a new source of income from the very first guest stay. We have a strong and diverse team of founders, and this summer we're testing the first prototype. We have many incredible locations lined up for our ambitious project in the coming years. We want every stay to be an opportunity to connect with nature, inspire better environmental choices, and contribute positively to local communities.

Thrilled to share our report of activities 2023 highlighting our achievements! 🚀 2023 has been the year of compiling and launching City Destinations Alliance | CityDNA strategy “Wegeneration”, with profound implications for how cities should manage tectonic shifts in our societies and navigate towards purposeful adaptation and restructuring.  📈 In 2023, #CityDNA consolidated in-person events and members responded with highest attendance. The record-breaking Autumn conference in Valencia together with Global Destination Sustainability Movement (GDS-Movement) and the highest record attendance of our recent General Assembly in Bologna are the best proofs that quality meeting in those challenging times is key. 🤝Building the strategy and the #powerofcommunity also reinforced CityDNA community while engaging extensive conversation with members and partners about our purpose, shared values and the joint strategic challenges. Members are even more eager to work together and speak with one voice, #advocacy is on every lip to help #DMOs make a real difference for the destinations and communities they serve. 🎯Our Knowledge Groups have also been cutting-edge by restructuring their way of working and presenting what they do. Knowledge Groups are our backbone, but also our finger on the pulse of what is coming next in their areas of expertise. ⬆ This is a long journey and the #VivaCITY Challenge launched in collaboration with Simpleview undoubtedly confirms that a fundamental grass roots approach is the only one. Another component our strategy was to enlarge the #CEO meeting to the whole DMO membership to discuss sensitive issues or proprietary strategies only for CEOs with the first edition early 2024. Together, they share experiences, insights, and challenges in leading their organizations, creating a forum for mutual learning and growth. 🔛 Similarly, the #CVBcafé specifically curated to exchange and discuss current challenges amongst Convention Bureaux peers started with a resounding success. We are excited to announce the launch of ST3ER: Scaling Twin Transition in Tourism by harnessing the Experience Economy for greater Resilience.   ST3ER will put in place key ingredients required to equip tourism orientated SMEs with a more responsive, resilient ecosystem, capable of growing and developing coordinated responses to many challenges the tourism industry is facing to support the achievement of the European twin goal of Digitization and Sustainability.   We are a diverse team of six dedicated organizations representing five countries who, over the next three years, are joining efforts to support tourism businesses in leveraging the green and digital revolution:   Ireland - Údarás na Gaeltachta and WestBIC Slovenia - Development Centre of the Heart of Slovenia Portugal - UPTEC - Science and Technology Park of University of Porto Spain - CEEI Bahía de Cádiz Denmark - Creative Business Network   We had our kickoff meeting in sunny Furbogh (Galway, Ireland) on the 24th and 25th of October and we already had the pleasure of welcoming at this event a first group of local tourism development stakeholders!    We leave you with a quote from Rónán Mac Con Iomaire, Údarás director:   "It is very important that small and medium-sized tourism businesses are supported in their development, in order to help them face the challenges that lie ahead.
