Quasi-government agencies, such as water districts, authorities, advisory boards, and commissions, play crucial roles in serving their communities. However, effectively interacting and communicating with, and reporting to lead governmental authorities can be challenging without the right support and protocols in place. Capital Strategic Solutions (CSS) offers valuable assistance to these agencies, helping them establish effective communication strategies and protocols to enhance their relationships and outcomes. There are many different situations where CSS can assist these agencies. Here are the top five: https://ow.ly/f09Q50RejVI

https://lnkd.in/gZpUHDen Thank you to CAP BCTownhalls for asking me to speak at the March 14th townhall in Saanich on Bill 44. Bill 44 requires all local governments to allow for increased density on lots currently zoned for single family homes or duplexes to 4 or 6 units per lot. It eliminates public hearings on development applications that “meet” the OCP guidelines. Saanich Residents there will be a public hearing in April when we align our OCP with the provincial requirements. This is your chance to provide input. Sadly, this is being mandated by the province without a chance for First Nations consultation, public input or debate. My concern is the environment, we live in the imperilled Coastal Douglas-fir biogeoclimatic zone and subset Garry Oak ecosystems we are the lacking the environmental (biodiversity conservation) and urban forest (tree) protection to sustainably development. All trees whether bylaw protected or not can be cut if in the building envelope. The foreshore and sensitive ecosystems lack protection during development. There is no guarantee for affordable housing.

Central States Water Resources (CSWR) has joined the Texas Association of Water Companies (TAWC) as their newest member. TAWC was founded in 2019 as a chapter of the National Association of Water Companies (NAWC) and is located in Austin, Texas. “Our own mission to bring safe, reliable and environmentally responsible water to every community in the U.S. aligns with TAWC’s goal of advancing safe and reliable water service by drawing on the experience of well-managed utilities,” observed Josiah Cox, President and Founder of CSWR. He added, “The investments we’ve made in Texas and our ongoing commitment to our customers drive our quest to continue transforming communities across the state.” Members of TAWC get to collaborate, share best practices, and leverage their strengths to benefit the communities they serve. CSWR is excited to be a part of this chapter of NAWC in Texas and to come together with other regulated water and wastewater companies to jointly address issues that impact people, the environment, and the industry as a whole. Excellent source of news and analysis by David Lloyd Owen and Verity Mitchell on the water sector in England & Wales, hot on the heels of listening to David’s thoughts on the industry yesterday during the The Worshipful Company of Water Conservators webinar. There are rarely simple answers, but knowledge and understanding of both the history and current situation is a good starting point for better decisions in the future, not least when it comes to the links between financing and engineering, which not enough of us (myself included) fully grasp, and which David definitely does!
