Is the increased development around you disheartening? It can be unless you are like me and have children who want to move back to the town they grew up in. Looking at some property options in Salem, Utah recently I remembered the announcement just a few months ago of the Three Bridges development. It is a fact of life in Utah and the surrounding Rocky Mountain States that people are discovering the small towns. That discovery leads to developers discovering new development opportunities. Salem and the surrounding small Utah towns have all been on a pretty good growth trajectory for a few years now and it doesn't look like it will be slowing down any time soon. Talking to people in these small towns more and more of them seem to be involved and participating in the discussion and voting process for new zoning changes, new building permits, growth initiatives, etc. Whether you live in a small town, an HOA, a county, a big city, etc. the best thing to do to influence the type of society and surroundings you hope to have and maintain, is to be involved in the processes. Voice your opinion, write letters, post information, and have discussions.
