So often rare and native breeds work brilliantly regenerative farming systems. Using livestock whose needs are met by the land and that can positively enhance the soils and biodiversity through their grazing patterns, size and other characteristics, is essential to farming in a sustainable way
Amazing news! Our tenants at Brays Farm in #Surrey are celebrating the birth of their first Albion calf. The Albion is on the Rare Breed Survival Trust’s Watchlist Rare Breeds Survival Trust Last year, three Albion cows made the journey from BBC Countryfile presenter Adam Henson's farm in Gloucestershire to their new home @Nutfielddairy - and the herd is already growing! Supporting rare breeds is one of the CRT’s core aims. We have Traditional Herefords at Awnells Farm in Herefordshire, Oxford Sandy and Black pigs at Bere Marsh Farm in Dorset and Llanwenog sheep at Twyford Farm in West Sussex. 🌟 Exciting News from Justice Jackline Mogeni on the Case of Slain Lion Olobor! Justice Jackline Mogeni issued a one-of-a-kind directive regarding the Slain Lion Olobor case filed by American Luis Franco. The ELC judge reiterated the responsibility of every person to conserve and protect wildlife resources. Justice Mogeni opined that since this is a sensitive matter and of global importance, it should be held outside the corners of a courtroom to allow any interested person to participate. Thus, favoring mediation in the form of a community hearing as opposed to courtroom litigation. In her wisdom, the judge directed that the mediation take place at a site where Olobor was allegedly killed. This decision ensures that the proceedings are deeply connected to the heart of the matter. The lion enthusiast community will finally get closure. Most importantly, Olobor will get justice. We encourage lion enthusiasts to attend the forthcoming hearing in large numbers. We undertake to share as much information as possible.#JusticeForOlobor #WildlifeProtection #CommunityHearing

Steve is a pro at selecting practices to make his operation more sustainable and efficient. He plants drought resistant miscanthus grass which improves land use efficiency, reduces erosion, improves soil carbon sequestration, and protects the local water supply. He then harvests the carbon-rich biomass and uses it in his compost-bedded pack barn to keep animals dry and comfortable. #regenerativeagriculture #circularity #resourceefficiency
Miscanthus day at Central Manor Dairy. This 13 year-old stand was established with a grant from Northeast SARE. It's still providing off- season bedding for our animals while providing a buffer to protect the water supply for the elementary school in the background.
