City of Cleveland - City Hall’s Post

Yesterday, the City of Cleveland, in collaboration with partners, launched the Memorial Street Sign program to honor the memory of CMSD teacher Danielle Chronister. Chronister was tragically killed on November 3, 2021, when a truck driver failed to yield as she walked to work. Developed with Danielle's family and Bike Cleveland, this program aims to remind drivers to be cautious and allows families to request City-sponsored signage memorializing loved ones killed in traffic crashes on Cleveland streets. This initiative complements the City’s Vision Zero efforts to eliminate traffic fatalities through improved street design and safety strategies. Was the driver charged? Justin M. Bibb I am grateful for speed bumps and some of the efforts by your administration. Phil Kidd is especially working hard to be seen and heard. Jasmin Santana Rebecca Maurer both know I was hit by a small truck at Willowdale/Pearl intersection while crossing as a pedestrian with a bike with the light -- thankfully the truck was not going fast. The driver hit me because I was not walking fast enough for her. I hesitate to cross at this intersection because cars regularly go through the red light at high speed. This has resulted in many crashes especially at night into the Riverside fence and even destroyed a Greater Cleveland RTA shelter in one incident.

If the police ever cited people for distracted driving and other basic violations it would help...but no opportunity for a photo opp and claims of 'caring'. Why hasn't your driver been ticketed yet??? Nobody is above the law as you put it is obviously a lie.

It kinda feels like a dystopian version of "adopt a highway." What happens if multiple people die in the same spot over the years? Maybe then they fix the street? I hope this catches on. It's way too easy to pretend it never happened.
