Transitioning from Recreational to Competitive Swimming Many swimmers who have honed their skills in the local pool eventually start eyeing the competitive scene. But transitioning from recreational laps and lessons to swim teams and meets requires mental and physical adjustments. If you're considering making the leap to competitive swimming, here are some key tips: Gradually increase distance in practice to build endurance for longer competitive races. Refine stroke mechanics to develop efficient technique for races. Work on speed and efficiency. Analyze your skills and pick target events that play to your strengths. Shore up weaknesses through focused drill work like underwater kicking to improve times. Research local teams with a supportive culture and knowledgeable coaches. Attend a few swim meets as an observer to learn protocols and get comfortable with the environment pre-competition. Envision your "why" - is it for fitness, fun, or future college athletics? Define your goals. Be patient with yourself during the challenging but rewarding transition period. The pool provides lifelong enjoyment, even if you just stick with recreational swimming, but competitive swimming builds grit and skills for those up for the challenge. How did you transition into competitive swimming? Please share your experience and tips below!

We can all probably agree that swimming is not only a vital life skill, but also a hugely enjoyable sport for kids to get involved in. Not much has changed there but swimming aids have evolved. This innovative bit of kit bit makes children’s swimming experience more fun, and give adults more peace of mind. There are several different types of swimming aids, but a good one will foster confidence in the water for toddlers and older kids too. SwimFin helps non-swimmers float, and will help them get used to the principles of swimming. However dont forget that constant supervision is still required at all times. Senior Internal Auditor at Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company.... Internal Audit | Risk Management | SAP ERP | Data Analysis | Production Management | Plant Maintenance
Before the first day I set foot in a swimming pool or any body of water larger than a tub, I knew many swimming styles and I could do them, however, only in my imagination. Growing up, my mom had a book on swimming and it detailed the different swimming styles and maneuvers, with images to depict each one. I read them often cause I was really fascinated by the idea of being in water and the imagery was compelling. I was pretty much persuaded that I could survive in water and probably thrive 😅😅. It wasn’t until after being in a swimming pool on several occasions that I actually began to (learn how to) swim. My experience in water was almost completely different from everything captured in my imagination from reading about swimming. A lot of detail was left out - like the temperature of the water and the struggle of breath control. Here’s the thing, the process of learning is intricately linked to doing. While theoretical knowledge provides a foundation, only practical applications concretize the learning and fosters true mastery. You’ve never really learnt until you have put the knowledge acquired to use. Today, I’m not an Olympian, but I can swim in actual water. I still sometimes watch videos about swimming, but I learned a lot more from practise and observing other swimmers than I learned from reading about it. Same principle applies in the work space. Is there a skill you’re looking to acquire? While you’re thinking of courses to take, carefully also look out for opportunities to practise that skill - that’s where the learning really takes place. #learninganddevelopment #tgif #grc

Give children the time they need to develop themselves. ✅ It is important to regularly give children some free time 'during' swimming lessons so that they can experiment. 💦 It is precisely by experimenting that they push their own boundaries from which they learn a lot! "So let it go sometimes, dear swimming colleague." That's one of my messages for swimming instructors... 🏊♂️ The message for all swimming parents: Enjoy this development and play time, because it may sound cliché, but the time of young children flies by! Children do not like parents who are in a hurry with pressure to perform. "Yes, I want my child to quickly obtain a swimming diploma", yes, that is often what most parents want... But do the children also want to obtain a swimming diploma quickly? If you are 'lay back' as a parent, you will notice that children often learn faster. 😉 The greatest gift 🎁 you can give a child is your conscious attention to play in the pool with your child in addition to swimming lessons. Play games together and let him/her play freely and, as a parent, slow down a bit during the swimming process. ;-) #metsuccesopzwemles

Improve your swimming technique with an improved video analysis! Our video analysis and correction sessions are undoubtedly one of the best ways to enhance your swimming skills. During these sessions, you will be filmed in high-definition, both above and below the water. The footage will be analyzed and discussed immediately with an expert. Additionally, you will learn specific drills during the same session that will elevate your swimming performance in the short term. To review the complete analysis, everything is recorded and provided to you digitally. We are excited to also introduce EO SwimBetter, a new innovative measuring tool for swimmers. EO SwimBetter sensors are attached to the palm of your hand while swimming and provide continuous precise measurements. These measurements offer a detailed overview of your swimming movements, which is invaluable for improving your swimming technique. Moreover, the results can be combined with video footage for a more comprehensive understanding. Who is this for? A better technique is essential for everyone, which is why we can use these sensors for any type of swimmer. #endurancepeakcoaching #eoswimbetter
