👉🏼 Angel Investors Swipe Right 👉🏼 Raising capital to disrupt co-working, health & wellness industries through creative leisure | Founder @ The Creativity Clinic | EMBA | Consultant | Ex-Vice Principal @TheBRITSchool
Does your child feel any of the following: 📚1. Uninspired by a restricted curriculum 🎨2. Frustrated and unable to exploit their creativity 🎭3. A desire to be amongst like minded artists and creatives 💃🏿If any of these are true and you then maybe this is the place where your child can flourish. Students that apply predominantly live in London but 10% do get accepted from outside of London. Whilst there have been some fairly😜 successful artists that have studied there, it isn’t a fame school, people don’t dance on the tables (unless it’s choregraphed of course) but it IS a fabulous organisation where young minds who want to take their talent seriously, can be nurtured, championed and celebrated by some of the most exceptionally talented staff in industry standard facilities.🕴️ Young people are trusted to be responsible and by god do they excel! There are no bells at this school (well, strictly not 💯 as there is a fire alarm) but students are expected to be able to use their watches and actually tell the time.. who would have thought that once we’ve taught them this skill at such a young age that they would be able to apply it in such a professional manner! A young person (or their teachers) can choose to have pink, green, blue hair because newsflash - hair colour doesn’t impact how talented or intelligent you are AND, it allows people to express themselves, show their individuality and feel more comfortable being able to be themselves. This school is important and changes lives, so if I’ve tempted you, take a look or feel free to reach out and ask some questions and if you’re a CEO or Principal in a school that requires an injection of creative strategy, feel free to get in touch. Perhaps I'm just ignorant, but what and where and when is Diversity Equality and Inclusion relevant? Let's start with admittance and grades for QC courses. In my day those who scored the required SAT scores and had the required average in Highschool were accepted into QC. There was no discrimination. Just numbers. Everyone else could go to QCC and matriculate into QC for their Junior year. Diversity irrelevant. Equality, everyone got an equal opportunity, Inclusion standards were color blind and ethnic neutral. Now lets look at Main St. Flushing 1970 compared to today. Back then Diversity in all races and religions. Equality was go into a store with money and you got what you wanted. Inclusion All were welcome. Today's Main St. Flushing. 100% Asian language. 100% Asian business owned. What happened to Diversity? What's concerning is when the people in charge program AI. The one source of programming will end the 1st amendment. Then obviously old uninformed people like me will just have to accept the infallible explanations. Oh well. I guess the truth checkers will make it all right.
Spring is a busy time at QC! In the April issue of President Frank Wu's newsletter "Frankly Speaking," read about upcoming campus events, including Diversity Week (April 15-19) and Become a Knight Day, a celebration for accepted Fall '24 students! Read the full issue: https://conta.cc/3TZmpjd.

If every Community College grad would just proudly post their CC alma-mater (along with their subsequent transfer institution, of course) it would be Transformative. One reason more people don't know of and celebrate the transformative power of Community Colleges in America -- hence the silly and often racialized stigma -- is that so many transfer students immediately delete their community college history on LinkedIn as soon as they "get in." As if attending a CC wasn't instrumental, pivotal, and transformative in achieving their dream school transfer. Which, paradoxically, only further reinforces the silly stigma they're apparently afraid of. Got stereotype threat? Gentle reminders: recently retired UCLA Chancellor Block was once a transfer student from Foothill College. And now it's on his LinkedIn. Apple founders Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak both dropped out of elite colleges/universities after just one year because it wasn't worth the money. That's why they attended De Anza College. Which had fantastic computer access and CS classes. And yep, that's why Apple is still headquartered in Cupertino. Ditto Hollywood: Tom Hanks? Arnold Swarzenegger? Both are proud champions of their CC alma maters. And the list goes on and on. And on. So why not join them?
🎉 April is Community College Month! 🎉 Have you attended a #CommunityCollege or earned an associate's degree? If so, have you included this in your LinkedIn profile? 👀 👀 Let's #EndCCStigma and celebrate #CCMonth by showcasing our #TransferPride right here on LinkedIn! When you were in high school, did you get to visit colleges and universities to check out post-secondary options? What was your most memorable college visit? Next month, By Degrees Foundation is taking 20 students from Harding Middle and North High School to Washington, D.C. They'll get to visit two Historically Black Colleges & Universities (HBCUs), tour the Supreme Court, meet with a Federal Judge, and visit the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. For many kids in our community, college visits aren't always possible, and out-of-state visits are financially prohibitive. Can you help us make this trip a reality for 20 exceptional students? $1,000 covers the cost for one student, but any portion of that will be impactful. https://lnkd.in/gRBjkuUP

I spent 9 hours a day for the past 7 days deep inside the Kansas City Convention center, reading and grading AP US History exams. Hundreds of them. I’m on the development committee that helps the College Board build the exam, so surely only fair that I see how students respond. Some notes: *The vast majority of the 1000 or so in-person readers are themselves APUSH teachers. They’re great. I myself benefitted from excellent high school history teachers, so it’s great to see that our kids remain in good hands. *The ratio of history joke t-shirts to humans inside that convention center was…extremely high. *Lots of standout exams from outstanding students. Way more sophisticated than I was at 17…or 22…or 30, in some cases. *There are a lot of safeguards against bad or inconsistent or otherwise unfair grading. It’s impressive. If you’re a historian, consider becoming an AP reader. It’s an endurance test for sure, but a great way to chip in for the good of the discipline.
