🌟 Challenges are opportunities 🌟 We always encounter projects that bring new challenges. But we see them as opportunities! The Nederlands Dans Theater (NDT) had special requirements for their dance performance. That's why we supplied them with a mobile, battery-powered turntable that rotates five times faster than a standard turntable. The project was definitely a challenge. Unlike usual, rehearsals for the dance show were carried out continuously with the turntable. During rehearsals and the show, the turntable is often only used for a short time. But here the turntable was used without interruption. But why did we use batteries instead of a permanent power supply? Two factors play a role. The turntable can easily be moved off the stage and set up elsewhere. In addition, a battery-powered turntable is ideal if the play is performed in different venues. Because a power connection is not always available there. This video is an April performance by the Billings Symphony at Alberta Bair Theater. Still images were collected every 20 seconds and collated into 3 minutes. Slow it down, pause it, if you'd like. The first 50 seconds display the street corner through out the day of the performance, the remainder of the video documents the stage over 5 days of preparation, practice, performance, and takedown. Observing people engaging with spaces is important to influencing future decisions. What other opportunities do we have to study the people and their use of our buildings? How would you edit this type of information? Focusing, learning, and responding to where people are spending time together in our modern life is a priority of ours. Theatres, along with orchestras, museums and galleries have benefitted from 45%/50% rates of tax relief since November 2021.The government will now make the relief rate of 40% permanent for non-touring theatre productions, while Touring theatre productions will also now benefit from a permanent relief rate of 45%. Theatres Trust welcomes the news that Theatre Tax Relief has been made permanent in the Spring Budget 2024.
