Additional Planning Enforcement powers to bite this Thursday! Our Director, Bob Woollard, had the pleasure of presenting to the East Midlands Councils CPD Programme last week alongside Hugh Richards of No5 Chambers. Bob provided insights into the challenges of efficient planning enforcement, while Hugh explained upcoming legislative mechanisms. These measures, set to take effect this week through the Levelling up and Regeneration Act, will give further powers to local planning authorities to prevent deliberate delays and process misuse when breaches of planning control occur. These legislative changes encompass: -Extending immunity periods to 10 years -Implementing longer periods for Temporary Stop Notices -Introducing penalties for Undue Delays in Appeals -Launching a new Enforcement Warning Notice, enabling authorities to impose controls on unauthorised developments that could be made acceptable. For further details, you can access the current report here: https://lnkd.in/eGVU9Ar6 #PlanningEnforcement #LegislativeChanges #UrbanPlanning #CPDProgramme #P&DGInsights #EastMidlandsCouncil #LocalCouncil #LocalAuthorities
