We are excited to announce that City Council has adopted a plan to develop the third Toronto Seniors Strategy! This important plan will develop and adapt City programs, policies and initiatives to better support our aging population, particularly seniors who are Indigenous, Black, and belong to equity-deserving groups. With a growing and increasingly diverse senior population, this strategy aims to provide the necessary community and social supports to help seniors age in place based on their needs and preferences. Additional Considerations for a Comprehensive Seniors' Strategy: Affordable Housing Options: Explore initiatives to ensure access to safe, affordable housing options suitable for seniors. Combating Social Isolation: Develop programs and resources that promote social interaction and combat loneliness among seniors. Technological Literacy: Bridge the digital divide by providing training and support programs to help seniors navigate technology effectively. Overall, a well-rounded Seniors Strategy that considers these elements can create a truly age-inclusive City of Toronto where all seniors can thrive.
