The City of Tolleson wants to thank Congressman Ruben Gallego for his support of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, AZ. This bill is bringing much needed funding to support infrastructure projects in Arizona. For Tolleson this means a pedestrian bridge will be built across Van Buren Street to help the over 3000 students from Tolleson Union High School can cross the street safely and it will also help improve traffic flow. On Friday, Congressman Ruben Gallego, gathered with the local leaders, including Mayor Juan Rodriguez, who have been working tirelessly to implement this funding and get Arizonans where they need to go, faster and safer. https://lnkd.in/gvtfGYHp

$607M in US DOT grants available for reconnecting communities "The 2021 infrastructure law established the $1 billion discretionary grant Reconnecting Communities Pilot program. The program is designed to improve residents’ access to jobs, education, healthcare, food, nature and recreation, with priority given to projects that benefit disadvantaged communities. Previous grants have gone to capping over part of the Kensington Expressway in Buffalo, New York; planning for a park to deck over a highway in Boston’s Chinatown neighborhood; and performing preliminary engineering analysis to expand access and transit among neighborhoods in Bluefield, West Virginia. “Through President Biden’s infrastructure law, we’re addressing infrastructure choices of the past and making sure that our transportation investments serve to connect, rather than divide, people and communities across the country,” Buttigieg said in a statement." The funding available in this round includes allocations from fiscal years 2024 through 2026, the final year of the infrastructure law. According to the DOT, last year’s program was “oversubscribed and highly competitive.” Learn more at the link below! #mygovus #buildingbettercommunities #governmentsoftwaresolutions

Transportation Planner at Michael Baker International | Dedicated to Sustainable Transportation and Land Use Planning
In addition to its Truck Parking study, the Pennsylvania State Transportation Advisory Committee and the State Transportation Commission approved the final report for its study on "Addressing Municipal Challenges to Participating in Competitive Transportation Grant Programs" (also referred to as "Local Match Challenges"). With the passage of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, a significant share of federal transportation funding is tied into discretionary grant programs. Pennsylvania also has several state grant programs to improve and enhance the state's transportation network. Localities vary on a wide range of factors - one being the ability to apply and secure grant funds for transportation projects. As a state with over 2,500 municipalities and 67 counties, the TAC's report takes a comprehensive look at the challenges associated with discretionary programs from the perspectives of both state and local government. It recommends best practices and possible solutions to overcome these barriers. President Joe Biden's administration plans to invest $30 million in Wisconsin via the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to replace lead pipes throughout Milwaukee. The dangers of lead are well-known, and it often disproportionately affects low-income neighborhoods and communities of color. No one should have to worry about if their water at home is safe to drink. Beyond replacing critical infrastructure, the administration's investment in small businesses throughout Milwaukee and the state has helped support stable, good-paying jobs in the communities that need them most.
