Last week, City officials and staff joined the Greater Concord CA Chamber of Commerce for a ribbon cutting to celebrate the opening of Beauty & Beyond, located at 2190 Meridian Park Boulevard, Suite C. Jazmine Simpson obtained her esthetician license from Concord's Paris Beauty College in 2019, and opened Beauty & Beyond at the beginning of 2020 in Brentwood offering beauty services such as facials, waxing, and makeup application. She quickly outgrew this space due to her loyal customer base and recently moved her business to Concord in a new 1,300 square foot space. The new salon features four rooms and created employment opportunities for other licensed estheticians to also provide beauty services. Jazmine is thrilled to bring her business to the same city where her career started. Thinking back to when I first entered the world of hair care and styling, I can't help but smile at the journey we've all been on. Back then, salons were cozy corners or familiar spots where you'd pop in for a quick trim or colour change. The idea of hairstyling as a global profession was still taking its first steps, not quite the glamorous affair it is today. But amidst these early days, a change was brewing. I vividly recall the spark of interest among people, eager to turn their love for hairstyling into a full-fledged career. New products were hitting the shelves, but something was missing—education, the key ingredient that could turn passion into expertise. That's when #StreaxProfessional stepped in, not just as a brand but as a friend pushing you to grow. We wanted to offer more than products; we wanted to provide a platform where hairstylists could learn, grow, and shine. #StreaxProfessional became a partner in their journey, a bridge between their dreams and reality. Today, on #HairstylistsAppreciationDay, my heart is filled with gratitude for all the hardworking hairstylists who have poured their dedication and creativity into their craft. Their resilience and determination have shaped our industry into what it is today—a vibrant community of artists and innovators. The next time you see your hairstylist remember to appreciate them for their hard work, craft, and ability to leave you happier than when you entered the salon. #StreaxProfessional #HairCareIndustry #SkillBuilding #EducationMatters #IndustryInnovation #CreativeProfessionals #HairstylistTraining #IndustryInsights #HairstylistAppreciation

See these two right here? They are best friends. They were minding their business, living life and working good corporate jobs with BENEFITS. Lo and behold, Tracy (on the right) lost her glasses. 👓 So she goes to the eyeglass place and none of the frames fit right. They were either too narrow, too short across the face, to tight upon the cheeks...a mess. (can you relate?) 💡 Now, she could have easily kept shopping for the right pair, but the two friends got together and decided to start their own eyewear brand...one that accommodated broader facial features. Vontelle Eyewear is now on the faces of some of everybody. The frames are wider, the bridge is higher, the arms, longer and overall they are designed to fit OUR faces PLUS, they offer many designs that celebrate cultural diversity. The way my face is set up, I cannot wait to get my hands on a pair of Vontelle frames! 😆 These two are incredibly smart and passionate about what they do. If you're a woman entrepreneur, dive into my interview with Nancey Harris and Tracy Green of Vontelle Eyewear. They've left their "good corporate jobs" and are now running Vontelle full-time. They project a million dollars in revenue this year. You'll get a ton of takeaways from their journey towards building a BILLION dollar brand. 🦄 ➡ https://apple.co/3QRFH8k #Sisternomics

❌ Retired Tax Advisor 📕 Published Author 🧑🏫 Blair Singer Senior Leader in Sales, Team & Personal Development 🌍 💨 💦 🔥 Master TetraMap Facilitator 🧳 Relocated to Australia 🇦🇺 ❌ Not Looking For Leads & Clients
In a recent event that has sparked much online discussion, a man in Singapore sought a haircut at an Upper Changi salon, enticed by a promotional offer of a $5 trim. However, his experience took an unexpected turn when he paid more for a re-cut at another salon, sparking a conversation about the actual cost of seeking cheaper services. . The gentleman initially declined a membership deal at the salon, which would have entitled him to a discounted $3 haircut and treatment. After receiving his haircut, he was dissatisfied with the results - uneven slope lines and patches of hair - as he shared in a TikTok video. . When he returned to the salon the following day, the hairstylist insisted that his haircut was satisfactory. Ultimately, he paid an additional $10 at a different salon to rectify his hairdo. His video, which has since garnered over 25,000 views, triggered mixed reactions from netizens. . This incident raises some thought-provoking questions about the quality of service relative to its cost. Does opting for cheaper services necessarily equate to sub-par quality? Should businesses be held accountable for unsatisfactory services, and if so, to what extent? And most importantly, as consumers, how do we strike a balance between cost-effectiveness and quality assurance? . The gentleman's advice to others was clear: Don't compromise on quality to save a few dollars. As we continue to grapple with these questions, it's worth remembering that the value of a service extends beyond its price tag. . _______________________ 😉 I am Jack ✅ I provide expert services to help you optimize your business's tax position lawfully and ethically. Today marks an important chapter in my my family’s story (and a surreal one at that). I rarely do make a personal post on LinkedIn, though given how inextricably bound my upbringing has been with the family business and the impact it has made on my career to date, I think I can make an exception. Since 1984, my parents Sam and Mary Pellegrino have run Pellegrino Hairdressing from Hurstville. Throughout my childhood and well into my adult years, the salon was a fact of life, along with death and taxes. The salon was a way of life. It played a part in where we went to school, the friends we made, Saturday sport, and most importantly, the best theatre to discover and bond with people from all walks of life and society. Whilst probably not the ideal way to spend some weekends and the school holidays, being part of the Pellegrino Hairdressing story has shaped my professional and personal lives in a way in which I will be eternally grateful for. A few key lessons I learnt from my infant years: 1. There is no substitute for sheer hard work- Taking pride in the quality of your work is a profound characteristic your clients will remember you for, and is there difference between a piece of work vs a piece of art- “Does his hair make him feel new? Or is this just another item off the bucket list he is glad to get out of the way this weekend?” 2. Time Management is crucial- The success of your hour, day, week and year is hinged upon your ability to balance agility and prioritisation- “Whilst fitting as many clients as you can in the book may yield a great short term return, it is the time you spend with them that will keep them coming back- for generations sometimes” 3. Invest in your client relationships, never taking their trust for granted- “Each interaction with your client is a unique opportunity to further nurture your relationship with them. This doesn’t just apply with appearance, but with all the time you spend working to make your clients happier/ more successful/ (more handsome?)” 4. Having genuine fun at work is the secret recipe. Over time, as you adapt to changing client tastes and an evolving market, loving what you do and having fun doing it will ensure that you can keep doing that for longer- it won’t even feel like work in the end . And thus, that’s what we are left with. It’s been an emotional couple of weeks as it feels like we are saying goodbye to old friends and family as the curtains draw to a close. Whilst the show can never go on forever, it is warming to know that we have impacted so many people and been part of so many family stories- an impact we will never forget. And to think each client was just once a “walk-in” from the outside world… https://lnkd.in/gpv6E7Ng

Together we pave the way for interdependence in your business through management of your administration. HouseRules
Although I get very excited about HouseRules, someone unfamiliar may mistake it for the run-of-the-mill policies and procedures yawn. If you're not signed up to be notified when the latest Ethical Insight is ready for your eyes and minds, you should (not tooting my own horn, but you're missing out!). Here's a glimpse of what's covered, although the business and challenges will change each time. In recent years, the hair styling industry has found itself in a challenging situation, primarily due to the rise of instant social media feedback. It's a catch-22 when it comes to online reviews. While positive comments can boost business, negative feedback—especially when it goes viral—can significantly tarnish an individual's reputation. What I often find on closer inspection is clients leaving negative reviews due to inadequate policies and practices that lead to frustration and dissatisfaction. To effectively manage client expectations, stylists should establish a system of procedures and processes. Just as a stylist may usher the client through their home to the chair, it is necessary to guide them through the inquiry and booking process. Pause and point out what's important to note - in your home, it could be no outdoor shoes; during the booking process, it could be to respect your time and arrive within 15 minutes of the timed appointment. This approach is far superior to simply matching attitudes and showing clients the door because it allows for constructive engagement and resolution of issues. By implementing thoughtful strategies, businesses can transform potentially damaging situations into opportunities for improvement and client retention. Moreover, it is imperative that the policies set out by the stylist are crafted in a manner that demonstrates the core direction of the business. Ask yourself whether the clients currently sitting in your chair are the same clients you want dominating your calendar in the next 6-12 months. We consider all of that when drafting your HouseRules. It's not only for immediate irritation but to plan with the future in mind. So, how are your business and customer journeys received? Have you ever thought to ask? #BusinessPolicies #CustomerExperience #ReputationManagement #ClientRetention
