You’ll spend all day swapping business cards and feel like your repeating yourself, but you’ll also be more aware of the enormous wealth of skills and experience in your area. It’s the ideas and new friendships that start to build as you step out into what could be the very start of a new venture or collaboration. Yes thats my picture on this im going next week, never thought of myself as a thought leader, just a warts and all average Joe sharing the love for what we do, The secondary market has often been derided and regarded as the unattractive underbelly of the new retail market or official channels. However, the fact is that the people involved in the secondary market are often former channel professionals or serious experts who chose this path over traditional channels. The secondary market is just as important as the new retail market, despite attempts by major players to downplay it over the years for their own reasons. This market has always been thriving. While there are bad apples in every sector, organizations like ASCDI and UNEDA promote business ethics to ensure safety for their customers and internally police their members. Engaging in bad business practices is counterintuitive, and our aim is to conduct business in a good and honest way. If this also means we help the environment, then it's a win-win. The majority of those involved in the secondary market are genuinely committed to being the white knights of environmental sustainability.

This is what happens when you take action, pursue your ideas with a passion and have a burning desire to succeed. I can't believe that it was only last Xmas when I shared an idea I had with a small group of local entrepreneurs to create a unique event for the Hertfordshire Business Community. The vision was to inspire small business owners to help them grow their businesses and The Hertfordshire Business Growth Show was born as a result. Less than a year later, that event has now been nominated for a unique business award. How did that happen? Well there's no secret ingredient to the success of this event. It all boils down to the fact that a small group of committed people (who all gave their time freely) took action to create something special for other business owners and then just got on with it! Tony Fields, Anna Peck, Michelle Stacey - it has been a pleasure to work with you all on this unique community initiative to support other business owners across Herts. You are all already award-winning people in my opinion so here's to creating an exciting and even bigger and better event in March 2024!
