A great summary report by WEF outlining the requirement to transform business models and operating models to address circularity. This requires key drivers such as Design for Longer and Recycability, Creation of Partnerships and Ecosystems, Policy and Regulation implementation and Establishing resilient supply chains through circularity that means closing the loop. This leads on to my EMBA thesis topic which looks particularly into the development and structure of Ecosystems and Alliances within plastic circularity, the world has produced 8.3 Billion tonnes of plastics of which 5.0 Billion have been discarded. The trend of plastic production is not reducing with annual production to reach 650 million tonne by 2050 the shift requires systematic ecosystems collaborating with various stakeholders through the circular value chain. #circularity #circulareconomy #plasticsindustry #ecosystems #strategicalliances

Partnerships are essential to build the circular #economy that the world needs. And circular transformations are urgently needed in an increasingly #resource-constrained world. Taking a circular approach in isolation would limit a company’s capacity to extract value from such a strategy, hence partnerships are the need of the hour. They offer a faster and more cost-effective route for accessing knowledge and circular materials, for informing policies and industry standards, and for creating a mass market for circular goods and services. In circular transformations, businesses may have to look beyond their #value chains to source circular inputs or to find buyers for their by-products and spent materials. They may need partners to complement their own #circular capabilities, to help #transform production processes or to introduce new circular #business models. And as more companies enter the circular economy, these #partnerships are likely to grow into multistakeholder coalitions that establish new, circular ecosystems.
