In the dynamic landscape of the oil and gas industry, the quest for enhanced solutions to address Surface Casing Vent Flow (SCVF) and Gas Migration (GM) remains a paramount challenge. Traditional methods, while valuable, often fall short in providing the precision and reliability necessary to discern subtle flow anomalies and ensure optimal well integrity. The MiCro fiber optic directional noise tool is a revolutionary solution poised to transform the landscape of SCVF/GM detection in the market. Unlike standard noise and hydrophone tools, the MiCro offers unparalleled precision and sensitivity, allowing for the detection and characterization of even the subtlest vent flow anomalies with exceptional accuracy. Equipped with cutting-edge directional technology, including advanced signal processing algorithms and high-resolution sensors, this tool delivers unmatched reliability in identifying SCVF/GM occurrences while minimizing false positives. 🔍 𝗖𝗖𝗦 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 vs. 𝗖𝗖𝗦 𝗦𝘂𝗿𝘃𝗲𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 ⁉ 🔍 Let's talk terminology: Should we use "CCS monitoring" or "CCS surveillance"? 🛢 "𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴" is a term frequently associated with O&G Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR), where the primary objective is 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆. Over the years, O&G experts have developed expensive and robust monitoring methods to enhance production and support infield drillings. ♻ But what about #CCS? Is the primary objective of CCS monitoring 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆 or CO2 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁? At SpotLight Earth, we believe that 𝘀𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆 should be the top priority in #CO2 #geological #storage. Therefore, isn't "𝗦𝘂𝗿𝘃𝗲𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲" a more fitting and if so: 𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘀𝘂𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝘃𝗲𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀 ❓ ⛔ We believe the answer is no— and not just from a cost or operational perspective. That's why we've introduced our 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 approach. 🚨 It's a subsurface dynamic alarm system that relies on focused seismic monitoring linked with flow model outputs. Our innovative approach predicts where and when to focus monitoring efforts to validate or invalidate injection hypotheses, prioritizing containment and conformance above all else. #SpotLight #CCS #Surveillance #monitoring #SafetyFirst #Innovation #PredictiveMaintenance #seismic

🚀 Exciting Developments in Valve Technology for the Energy Transition! 🌍💡 📣 Featured Article Alert: Faris Churcher's Insights in World Pipelines! 📰🔍 🔗 Page 39 of the December Issue: https://lnkd.in/ecgQqWbt Valves, often overlooked in the energy transition, are stepping into the spotlight. Faris Churcher sheds light on their pivotal role in bettering standards to meet the energy transition. Check out his featured article on page 39 of the December issue of World Pipelines! 🌐 Global Shift Toward Hydrogen: With hydrogen blending gaining momentum, countries worldwide are eyeing hydrogen as a pivotal player in achieving energy transition goals. Plans for hydrogen pipelines are sprouting across Europe, Singapore, and notably, the UK. The UK government is set to blend hydrogen into the gas distribution networks at a 20% concentration by 2025, with aspirations for 100% hydrogen pipelines. 🌱 Environmental Impact: The shift to hydrogen is not just about reducing emissions; it's also about future-proofing the grid. Oxford Flow's innovative valves offer emissions-free solutions, reducing the environmental impact and providing long-term cost savings for operators. 🔍 Data-Driven Approach: To truly embrace hydrogen blending, it's essential for firms to have data-backed proof of their infrastructure's readiness. Governments must play a role in setting defined regulations and standards to avoid delays and mitigate risks to people, assets, and the environment. 🌈 Every Piece Counts: As we strive for a sustainable energy future, let's not overlook any piece of the puzzle. Valves are a critical element in achieving our goal of blending hydrogen while meeting stringent emissions targets. It's time to scrutinise every aspect of our energy systems for meaningful, long-term change. #EnergyTransition #HydrogenBlending #Sustainability

Long term monitoring of wells using DTS (distributed temperature sensing) and DAS (distributed acoustic sensing) provides new insight into the lives of annuli in offshore wells. By measuring temperature on fiber clamped to the tubing it is possible to infer the gas/liquid interface, or liquid level, in several annuli. This can for example be used to detect annular leaks and estimate leak rates. My main findings are summarized in a paper entitled “Annuli Liquid-Level Surveillance Using Distributed Fiber-Optic Sensing Data” which just got published in the SPE Journal. I hope you enjoy it! Thanks to all my colleagues working with fiber optics in Equinor for great discussions that helped improving this paper. This work would not have been possible without efforts from so many good colleagues.
