#AlPAC has been doing this for years, but this is the most expensive campaign they've paid for in their HISTORY of buying out elections. Now they know they can be successful and will replicate this strategy against any and all officials they want to remove, and we now know Black and Brown officials are the biggest targets. If you look on OpenSecrets, Biden has been the biggest beneficiary of AIPAC money to date. This is NOT democracy. Jamaal Bowmam deserved better.

Continuing with current President Joe Biden will be strategic in some ways and a gamble in others if the popular vote is not the only consideration for electing the next President of the United States. However, a key question is a thought-provoking question concerning the elections raised by Republican incumbent former president Trump. Trump has said he will accept fair results. This creates difficulty for the electoral process in the United States. For the naysayers doubting EVMs, it's time to turn back the time machine and remember the butterfly ballots in 2000. Who can ensure free and fair elections? What about disinformation campaigns and external influence? Doubting the veracity and validity of elections is a dangerous trend for any democracy, anywhere in the world. Is democracy really on the decline in the US? Fearmongering is a well-thumbed chapter in political playbooks, especially for the Liberal Party. Liberals used fear successfully in elections from 2004 to the present. In Ontario, Kathleen Wynne snatched victory from the jaws of defeat in 2014. But trying to scare people away from voting Conservative is only one part of what parties need to do. You must do more than make the alternative unpalatable, you need to give people something to vote for. That’s the challenge I spoke with CTV News Question Period about this week. How can progressive and centrist parties get people off the couch and motivate them to come out and vote? What issues will win back swing voters from the Conservatives? ⛷ As Iowans prepare to trudge through the weather to the GOP caucuses, here's a quick guide to cutting through the noise of the next few weeks in presidential politics. 🕵️♂️ I've been on the staff of or advised five different major presidential campaigns over the past three decades, so this guide is based on deep observations of how these campaigns play out. The most important element to understand is that momentum is everything. Once the Iowa caucus results go public, ⌛ time is up for a lot of these campaigns, even if they are the last ones to realize it. #psephologicalfacts #21 Penultimate week of the election so plenty of facts to come! What is the largest number of votes ever cast for a political party in a General Election? A slightly surprising result perhaps - it’s the 14.093mil votes cast for John Major’s Conservatives in 1992 (the only time over 14mil). Although a narrow victory a high turnout (77.7%) means this is the record even though the current electorate is bigger. Boris Johnson in 2019 won the second largest number of votes (13.966mil); Clement Attlee in 1951 won the 3rd (13.948mil); Theresa May in 2017 is 4th (13.636mil); and Tony Blair in 1997 5th (13.518mil). Interesting to note that Attlee lost the election in 1951 despite winning what was (until 1992) a record number of votes! Blair therefore has the record for the largest number of votes Labour has won when they actually won the election!

We have a two-party system. So long as we have an Electoral College with winner-take-all assignment of electors (in 48 states), I can confidently predict that a third-party candidate will never win the presidency. If you vote third party for president—which is of course every voter’s right—your candidate will not win. But that vote could tip the election in a particular and possibly unintended direction. This arguably occurred in 2000 and 2016 with the Green Party candidacies of Ralph Nader and Jill Stein, tipping the elections in critical swing states to George W. Bush and Donald Trump. The same might occur in 2024 with a No Labels candidate (Joe Manchin?) or a Green Party candidate (Cornel West?) taking potential votes away from Biden.
