A couple of months ago, I grabbed a sales/marketing call with my good friend Aiko Pickering. 🚨Disclaimer: by no means am I taking credit for the 99.9% of strategy and work she has put in. Only sharing my .1% She wasn’t seeing the results she wanted from paid advertising/marketing. So she asked for help on her IG story. During our hour long call, we talked about modern-day sales, personal branding, and building a community. One of the big takeaways was implementing Seth Godin’s “Permission Marketing” concept. And I went through the customer journey that initiates when people join my newsletter. And today she announced her newsletter, The Time of the Month Club, for her brand Monthly—which makes gender-inclusive, sustainable, and price-accessible period underwear for all people with a period. Honestly, at the end of our call, I just reminder her and confirmed what she wanted to do from the beginning—before the fundraising, product/market fit, and accelerator programs started—build/serve a community.
