Chris, you’re advice is very sound. I tailored my resume and cover letter for my whole corporate career (starting when I had to cut jobs ads out of the newspaper “want ads”). I customized my resume and cover letter to the specific job, company and industry I was applying to. Sprinkling their job description language throughout these documents and translating the names of skills into the industry’s lingo. It always worked for me. I agree that it’s even more important now with AI. As a job seeker, doing that could be an overwhelming amount of work. Maybe you could pick 1-3 jobs a week to tailor your documents for and send your generic documents to the other positions.
