My name is Doctor Carl St. Remy and I'm the chief of orthopedics at CHKD and also the director of the Spine service. The DNV Advanced Pediatric Spine Certification recognizes the excellence in a hospital's pediatric spine program. Being the first spine program in the country to have this certification is amazing. It's an honor for CHKD, It's an honor for the children of our community. It's honor for the doctors and the staff at the hospital. It's validation, something that we've been working on for six years to to just be the best program for our community, the best program that we can be as good as anything in the country. The DMV is a rigorous organization and they looked at a lot of different data points to assess our program. They looked at our clinical outcomes, They look at ICU stay that looked at how long patients were in the hospital, how long our surgery was, was their blood loss. They looked at an important data to see where we giving the patients the best care in the country. The spine programmer to CHKD differs from so many programs in the country in that we are a team. Having an experienced pediatric spine team is it an immense gift from the hospital? This begins with support from our administration to help us build a great team because what we are doing is ensuring that all aspects of the care are top quality. So we have built a team with experienced surgeons. We have a dedicated nurse coordinator. We have a special physical therapists. The nurse on the floor are trained, we have an anesthesia team that can handle all types of spine cases that we bring into the hospital. And So what makes us good is the team we've built this advanced pediatric spine certification is even important to our local pediatricians because their kids are like family to them. And so this just makes them trust us more to say, hey, this doctor, this hospital, these, this program is going to take great care of our kids. It just builds the confidence and they know we haven't. Open door. You have a question, We're here. You want to send a patient? We're here. We're here to take care of your patients. As a surgeon, I feel great about this certification being the 1st to do with the 1st the country. But what I really feel, I feel, I feel great for our patients. I feel happy for our patients because they're gonna get great care. So this is just the beginning. This Is Us saying, yes, we did a great job, but we still, if there's something better to do for our kids in the community, we're going to do it. We're going to find that because the end of the day, we're going to take great care of the kids in our community. That's our goal.

I recently encountered an interesting case involving a patient in her early twenties who had undergone ACL reconstruction 16 months ago. Despite a successful initial recovery, she began experiencing anterior knee pain and was unable to fully extend her knee. Upon further investigation, we identified a Cyclops lesion, also known as localized anterior arthrofibrosis. This painful anterior knee mass, a known complication of ACL reconstruction, was causing her anterior impingement. 📸 The arthroscopy photos clearly showed the Cyclops lesion impeding her range of motion. Following a precise Cyclops resection, she successfully restored her normal range of motion and alleviated her knee pain. This case underscores the importance of recognizing and addressing post-surgical complications like the Cyclops lesion to ensure a complete and successful recovery for our patients. #Orthopedics #SportsMedicine #KneeSurgery #CyclopsLesion #ACLReconstruction #PatientCare
