What Went Wrong? A)Failure in Communication B)Lack of Women Representation C) both Some still question why #representation is important. Let me bring you a prime example to illustrate the case!! >>Did you hear about the Pinky Gloves controversy? The Pinky Gloves Controversy: Pinky Gloves were designed to help women dispose of their menstrual products discreetly. While the intention might have seemed considerate, the execution revealed a significant gap in understanding and representation. The product was met with #backlash for perpetuating the stigma around menstruation rather than normalizing it. Implications for Gender-Sensitive Product Design: •Lack of Female Input: The controversy highlighted the absence of women in the design and decision-making process. Products aimed at women need to be developed with their direct involvement to ensure they meet actual needs and preferences. The picture says it all: men (should we say “superheroes”?) trying to solve menstruation’s disposable product issues… from their perspective. •Understanding the Audience: Effective product design requires empathy and insight into the daily experiences of the target demographic. Without this, even well-intentioned products can miss the mark. •Breaking Stigmas: Instead of reinforcing outdated stigmas, products should aim to challenge and change them. Pinky Gloves failed to normalize menstruation and instead, made it seem like something disgusting that we need to be protected from, kept separate, apart from. >>That’s why encouraging women >to speak, >share ideas, >and take the lead makes a significant difference. Having women on your team is not enough >if they feel they won’t be heard >or if it’s not a safe space to express their opinions. Investing in their leadership through training and coaching is crucial and leads to tangible benefits for the entire organization, including increased innovation, improved team dynamics, and enhanced overall performance. *********** So, what would have happened if more women had been heard and considered? Certainly, it would have saved time, money, and energy, which could have been channeled into creating something women truly need and would benefit from. *********** What are your thoughts on the Pinky Gloves controversy? #feminineleadership #Diversity

Can we talk about high heels in the workplace? It may seem superficial, but given the time, money, and physical toll women invest in heels, it’s worth addressing. Last week at the NBMBAA conference, I wore heels only for the 45 minutes I was on stage; the rest of the time, my flip-flops and sneakers took over. I envied the women who rocked stilettos, but after years of painful experiences, I can’t do it anymore. And by ‘it” I mean attending multi-day events on rock solid concrete floors in 4 inch stilettos. My time in corporate heels led to a podiatrist’s diagnosis of neuromas and prescription-strength ibuprofen. A friend at the conference suffered in her pumps and confessed, "I just feel more confident." It’s the tension between comfort and confidence. Or is it? After reading Tamara Mellon’s autobiography, following Tabitha Brown on social media, and seeing ads for Sarah Blakely’s new shoe line, this topic has been on my mind. I wonder how much more productive I could’ve been if this struggle didn’t exist. The cultural and psychological factors behind "heel confidence" are deeply ingrained, reinforcing the idea that high heels equate to femininity and power. I can’t help but make the connection to the rubbish criticism of VPOTUS (pantsuit or black sequin gown, She’s more than qualified. Periodt. I’ll leave that right there - but I digress). I'm a superfan of challenging these gender-biased narratives about what defines feminine power. In today’s more casual work culture, the "heel thing" is still a thing, which my feet fully support within reason, but my sneaker collection is growing fast. Thoughts?
