Autonomous Trucks on the Rise in China! 🚀
Check out the sharing from #JulianMa (Founder & CEO of #InceptioTechnology) in #ATZ - the leading international technology magazine in automotive development - about Inceptio's experience on commercialization of autonomous driving technology:
https://lnkd.in/dDQzjB-w
"Electrified heavy-duty trucks have yet to be commercialized on a large scale, but the proven fuel efficiency advantages of SAE level 3 and 2 automated driving technology can be leveraged by Europe's freight and express fleets in the near-term to help contribute towards the continent's ambitious CO2 emissions goals. Automated driving technology that sees full-fledged drivers become safety operators will play a vital role in this effort. Co-piloting with automated driving systems is not only more efficient, but also safer and more comfortable." 🧐

Smarter Way to Manage Autonomous Vehicles: Lessons from E-Scooters 🛰️ 🚗 🧑🏫 🛴
🔍 The report on "Digital Regulation of Connected and Automated Vehicles in the Future" features Nivel's groundbreaking platform in Bergen kommune during the #NorthSeaRegionAutomated Road Transport Forum (ART-Forum)#interreg project, showcasing how the #DigitalRegulation tools have been used to manage 6000 #escooters to ensure they enhance the city's livability. 🌆
Nivel's features, such as its ability to set geofenced regulations, use the widely-spread MDS standard, and enable two-way data sharing for dynamic and flexible regulation, are seen as a solution that cities in Europe are looking for. 🌟
Just as well as we can use digital regulation for #micromobility vehicles, we can do the same for other connected vehicles, like #autonomous cars.
To successfully implement digital regulation for #AutomatedVehicles, we must overcome several obstacles:
🔧 Technology: Improving GPS accuracy and exploring enhanced data communication for larger and faster vehicles.
📜 Legislation: Advocating for national/EU legal frameworks, addressing privacy concerns, and strengthening road pricing capabilities.
🌐 Cultural and Political Factors: Encouraging a shift from ownership to access, supporting shared mobility, and prioritising active transport modes.

I provide companies with access to leaders and innovators in the Automotive, Digital & Industrial Innovation, and Energy communities. Hiring top talent is all about access.
I just noticed the new road markings in Gangnam (Seoul), so it seems that the #robots are coming, finally! My photo isn't perfect, but I'm sure get the idea. It seems that 18 cities and provinces across Korea have been selected as Self-Driving Vehicle Pilot Zones under Korea's law on the Promotion and Support for the Commercialization of Autonomous Vehicles. There's app, too, including "TAP!" (for local autonomous bus services) and even "아이.엠(i.M)" (a taxi) is already part of this autonomous ecosystem. #autonomousvehicles are also finding other use cases in Korea, including those little road sweeper trucks, that keep the gutters clean. So, despite the recent doubts about the feasibility of #autonomousvehicles, it's good to see this progress, as certain use-cases, including public transportation in buses, etc. absolutely make sense to me.
What do you think?

As we transistion from ICE to EV, the next step is driver to autonomous.
20 years ago I got to drive a Model T in storyland, much before I was allowed to drive because the car was essentially on bumper rails. So one could say the car (ride) was autonomous where I loaded and unloaded with an attendant who made sure the car couldn’t hop the tracks.
As we have HOV lanes that prevent lane switching with reflective and cement barriers, why not make autonomous driving available for lanes of traffic that don’t experience mergers, and essentially just use adaptive cruise control.
The guidance system can be the power strip, attracting the car along it like ants leaving pheromones. As the car drifts off course the power is reduced, encouraging the self driving car to stay centered on the charging.
This charging can be contact like the video below, or wireless through magnetic induction or even beamed power.
All this to say, we are much closer to making electric vehicles autonomous road trains and with the incentive to never need to stop and charge, sleeper road trains.
The amount of productivity of travel this will enable from high value trucking to an alternative to business class flight.
Autonomous electric vehicles with dynamic charging will allow for baseload road traffic, encouraging traffic all hours of the day.
We have the technology to be fossil fuel free today. But many consumers are waiting for industry to put a bow on it as a consumer ready, and integrated product. Build it and they will come.
Wireless dynamic charging at 20 kW
Vehicle integrated solar at 500 W
Path following adaptive cruise control
Bidirectional charging at 20 kW
300 mile range battery
Once this product is under $40K, the whole world will choose it, dethroning the new world’s favorite car the Tesla Model Y. That is if that car is able to be purchased instead of used as a robotaxi service through Uber / Lyft and owned by the OEM.
Consumers and markets are ready for a vehicle that joins electric utility, data utility, taxi chauffeur, and package delivery into one vehicle. The iPhone moment of combining GPS, Music, Camera and Phone is upon us, except this time 15’ instead of 5”.
And once that is built who knows what other “apps” will be developed for such a device. Distributed computing? Mobile heat pumps? Gravitational storage via regenerative breaking?
Fossil fuel freedom is here. We just have to build it with the technology we have today.
