"Huiquing Kuang immigrated to the U.S. two years ago and lives in a Chinatown SRO with her husband and two young children. To her, Stockton Street feels like home." "It has everything we need," said Kuang. "With a neighborhood like Chinatown, we have a corridor that is purely focused on residents. It really helps to ensure that we also make residents feel like this is the neighborhood they want to live in because they feel like they’re part of that neighborhood, they’re cared for and people understand that they are the main target for the usage.” - Rosa Chen, Chinatown CDC Read Now > https://lnkd.in/gS55ETJh #SFChinatown

(Italian) In the August 2023 Issue of Budo International Grandmaster Taejoon Lee writes to “End Dependency” Part 2, our social dilemma leading to moral depravity. “This is one of the best eras in all of history. We have so much information, knowledge, and technology to unify and join all races, nations, and people of all ethnic backgrounds, offering the means of living a better life than ever before. It is my hope that corporations, conglomerates, and nations utilize their powers to bring greater unity and racial harmony so that we can move forward by expanding our individual and collective consciousness to really live life focused on the important, valuable things – our relationships, humanity, and our relationship with the infinite. Not continually treating the human race as infantile children, controlling us with repressive fear tactics and increasing dependencies, but rather liberating ourselves from the confines and limitations of material goods, base emotions and greed.” Read the entire article here: https://lnkd.in/e8xx3wN6 #hwarang #hwarangdo #socialmedia #dependency #independence #motivation #technology #culture #taejoonlee #화랑 #화랑도 #이태준

On September 2023, 16 community villages will be transformed into locations for a national strategic project called eco-city . Rempang Eco-City area for the location of various industries, ranging from tourism, services, to housing. This development project is the result of President Joko Widodo or Jokowi's visit to China some time ago. The Xinyi Group company will invest in Rempang Island in the form of building a glass factory. Therefore, the Batam City Government, BP Batam, and PT Megah Elok Graha are working together to speed up the development process (ed-business-tempo) The relocation was carried out by BP Batam. The deployment of armed apparatus was carried out to force the villagers to leave Very sad! Children who were at school scattered out of class because they were afraid to hear the sound of gunfire from soldiers relocating the people of Rempang Island. Rempang Island has thousands of people who have lived on this island for decades. But today they were forced to leave the island, the school children left the school where they had felt comfortable with their friends and teachers. Rempang Island is the location for the construction of a national strategic project, and the largest glass factory in the world will be built by a company from China. But what is very unfortunate is why the relocation of people from Rempang Island had to involve weapons and troops entering the villages. Wouldn't this cause lasting trauma to school children? Isn't capital education important for industry? What is the future for fishermen and their families? #rempangisland #fishermens #households #villages #tobeecocity #nationalprojectsstrategies #indonesia #china #batamcity #riauislandsprovince

Within just a month, two allegations of bullying cases have surfaced in Malaysia's boys' boarding schools, ranked in the top tier. Surely bullying has to be addressed as a nation. Surely it's time we have a system that measures children's and young people's wellbeing. Children and young people need a cohesive, responsive, and compassionate system of support that expressly aims to prevent their wellbeing from declining. By measuring children’s subjective wellbeing, local and national decision makers can better understand ways to improve it. All children and young persons deserve happy childhoods. No one excluded. The Education Ministry has launched two important guidelines for managing the issues of misconduct, especially those related to bullying and sexual harassment, in a bid to create a safe ecosystem within educational institutions. A cold stare, sarcastic smile, protruding the tongue to another, a look of disdain - all of these are now indications of bullying. And we all know what happens to these bullies when they get away with things - they will show up at the work places and wreak havoc. And it all happens. Again. https://lnkd.in/gm5T49uf

My experiences of becoming a program director On 22 February 2023, Gagasan Mahasiswa Undang-Undang Sabah had organized a webinar titled "Empowering Youth Through Advocacy", in which I am fortunante enough to be appointed as the program director. These are several things that I had learned throughout the program: 1. Preparation is Key As the program director, preparation is key. You have to strictly prepare and follow the timelines until the commencement of the event. Therefore, it is important to create a complete structure especially on the person in charge in preparation for the event. 2. Teamwork Working in a society is very new to me which led to my first mistake, doing the work in solidarity. It is important to ditch the mindset of you're working alone. The point of being in a society is to work together with all society member for the betterment of everyone. Being in solitude and refuse to work together as a team will not only jeopardize the work but also the society as a whole. 3. Assign and lead In conjunction with the second point, do not be afraid to delegate tasks to your colleagues. This might sound easy but actually a lot of people struggled and thinks that the work can be done with minimal engagement of people within the society. This is false and in the long run, it will consume you since you will realize that your plate is full.

Basic human needs such as a sense of belonging, security, and opportunities for growth are universal, and not a privilege awarded to some. It's imperative that we acknowledge our collective shortcomings as a human race and stand in solidarity to support those in need. To foster meaningful connections, let's begin by actively listening to the stories that people share. Enggang & Pipit is centered around the transformative power of empathetic listening. This two-hour programme offers a secure space for individuals to open up about their unique backgrounds, narratives, and the impact of stereotypes and misinformation on their daily lives. Through empathic listening, we can unearth profound ways to support one another. The journey starts with you and your willingness to lend a pair of ears. Enggang & Pipit is a community-bridging programme that serves as a stepping stone to correct faulty narratives, debunk stereotypes, and challenge the labels that are often unfairly applied to our communities. In collaboration with Impact Works, we welcome you to sign up today (https://bit.ly/EPmarch2024) for an afternoon of story-sharing, learning and heartfelt conversations about Statelessness in Malaysia. 🗓️ SAVE THE DATE 📅 10 March 2024 (Sunday) 🕒 3pm to 5:30pm 📍 Akar Umbi House, 8 Jalan 22/42, Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia. #EnggangAndPipit #UnityInDiversity #FriendshipMatters #communitybuilding #peacebuilding #mycommunitybuilders #makingadifference #debunkingstereotypes #community #communitybuilding #grassroots #marginalisation #akarumbisociety #enggangandpipit #humanrights #humanrightsday #CommunityUnity #BreakBarriers #SocialChange.
