Chinatown Community Development Center’s Post

“At the height of the pandemic, Malcolm Yeung was desperately trying to get millions from the city to feed Chinatown families living in cramped single room occupancy units who could not safely cook meals in shared kitchens. The head of the nonprofit Chinatown CDC, Yeung met with Supervisor Aaron Peskin and his staff in a North Beach alley to lobby for the funds while social distancing. “What do you think you need to make this work?” Peskin shouted from 15 feet away. “I think we need $2.2 million!” Yeung called back. The Board of Supervisors approved $1.9 million.” https://bit.ly/3Jti0in
