During the month of June Childline Kenya has been actively supporting children in the areas that were affected by the April-May floods. We conducted Team Up sessions in 8 schools, 2 schools in Mathare and 6 schools in Kibra Sub county. These sessions were designed to provide: Safe space for children affected by floods to express their grief, fears, anxieties, and emotions caused by loss of loved ones, displacement and disruption in their lives. Develop healthy coping skills to handle stress, anxiety, and trauma through techniques like relaxation, creative activities, and discussions on emotional expression. Provide peer support, the sessions brought together children who were experiencing similar challenges. This reduces feelings of isolation, and allowed children to support and encourage each other. The sessions equipped them with the tools they need to heal emotionally, reconnect with their peers, and rebuild their lives. Psychosocial support will be ongoing for children who may require additional assistance across all the 8 schools.
