Reflecting on our recent experience in Tanzania… In June 2023, we ventured to Tanzania for safeguarding seminars, where involving children broke tradition. Typically, sessions separate age groups, but here, unity prevailed. Children actively contributed, fearlessly offering insights. Their courage showcased maturity beyond years, amplifying their voices in safeguarding discussions. This intergenerational approach fostered unity and empathy, empowering youth and reminding adults of their duty. It highlighted Tanzania's cultural richness, emphasizing inclusivity and knowledge accessibility. Our Tanzanian journey inspired us to reshape community learning, emphasizing inclusivity. Today, on Human Rights Day, we commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Since 1948, this document has enshrined the rights and freedoms of all human beings, regardless of race or gender, and continues to be an inspiration to us all. In northern Uganda, a region with a history of violent conflict, human rights violations are often carried out on the basis of gender. Economically, women play a significant role in sustaining the family unit, yet community leaders often ignore their participation in development activities. We started Cents for Seeds with the vision of empowering women and enabling them to provide for their families. We know that women in Uganda are the caretakers for their families, and we have seen that when you invest in women, you are investing in their communities. Cents for Seeds offers women the opportunity to earn an income, income which then turns into food, education, and health care – essential human rights. #HUMANRIGHTS75 #LoveMercyFoundation #EqualRightsEqualDignity #CentsForSeeds

We are Leaving No Child Behind! Have you ever paused to imagine the world of children in Northern Nigeria's Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) Camps? The first time I read the proposal for the Project Educate Me campaign and learned of Access’ commitment to supporting children in IDP camps, I became interested in this project. The stories of these children are impossible to ignore. In partnership with Kidpreneur Africa, Access Corporation has embarked on a journey of hope and transformation. For us, it's more than just a partnership—it's a promise to stand with those who need us most, to lift them up and provide them with the tools to build brighter futures. In the coming months, our mission will sweep through Katsina, Adamawa and Borno. Our goal is to reach a minimum of a 150,000 children. Through this project, we will not only impart essential skills like literacy, communication, and financial literacy but also nurture their spirits with ethical values and a sense of belonging. Because education isn't just about books and numbers—it's about empowerment, about giving these children the wings to soar beyond their circumstances. The journey has already begun in Borno, where we've witnessed firsthand the spark of excitement in their eyes. African Presidents and officials convene to discuss children’s rights, education, climate action, and innovative solutions. The summit takes place a year after the Presidents of the four countries met with children in Lusaka, Zambia, to commemorate the 2022 World Children’s Day. At this event, the four leaders committed to improving the quality of education for all children and ensuring that all schools are safe-to-learn settings and are connected to the internet. The leaders also committed to addressing underlying inequalities and the existing gender disparities that prevent girls and children with disabilities from reaching their full potential, and recognizing children and young people as essential actors in responding to the climate crisis. The Presidents of Botswana and Namibia, the Vice-President of Zimbabwe, and the Minister Community Development and Social Services of Zambia have joined more than 100 children to mark this year’s World Children’s Day at a summit in Walvis Bay, Namibia.
