Immigration is a tough, but important issue, even when discussing, as I am, persons who are lawfully present, with lawful work permits, and the lawful ability to come to our community. Proud to continue the conversation on how we welcome all responsibly! Also, proud to look to efforts from many in both parties, like former President Bush, Senator Lankford, Senator Warren, and others recognizing that an ability to work for all lawfully present is key for our communities now and in the future. https://lnkd.in/dPqKqgHp

Rep. Veronica Escobar (D-TX) met with APCA members on Capitol Hill on Tuesday night to discuss how the bipartisan Dignity Act would restore order at our southern border while also opening legal pathways for immigrants to help fill America's more than 8 million unfilled jobs. She said we need these workers to keep our economy strong and to support American businesses. Escobar called for compromise. "Neither side is going to get everything it wants," she said. "It is up to Congress to do our job. We must stop kicking the can down the road." Escobar introduced the Dignity Act last May along with Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar (R-FL). https://lnkd.in/eugKYgF3 #immigrationreform #bipartisan #DignityAct #pipelineindustry #energyindustry #constructionindustry #criticalinfrastructure #energy #pipeline #construction #pipelineconstruction #infrastructure #contractors #workforceshortage #immigration #reform #workforcesolutions #immigrants #workforce #APCA

Across political affiliations, voters want practical, bipartisan solutions to immigration issues. This notable consensus found in the 2024 Arizona Voters’ Agenda highlights immigration as a pressing issue that transcends partisan divides. “Not only do voters want to see meaningful progress on immigration challenges, but they understand that the type of progress that is needed requires bipartisan cooperation. This research also shows that two-thirds of likely voters want to elect leaders who share that motivation for working across the aisle to get things done”, said Dr. Sybil Francis, CFA Chair, President & CEO.
