"We've noticed a disturbing trend of blackmail, extortion, and violence in the greater Masaka region, particularly among those using dating sites and apps. Unfortunately, many of our community members have fallen victim to robbery, assault, and even death at the hands of individuals they met on these platforms.Today it makers one year since the passaging of the AHA 2023, many gay dating apps have been compromised, leading to an increase in fake accounts and violent attacks against the LGBTQI community. Let's look out for each other and stay vigilant in the face of these growing threats. If you or someone you know has been affected, please reach out to our support team for help. Together, we can create a safer and more supportive community for all. I have long advocated for the integration of large language models into an offensive detection and reporting platform for this precise purpose. The technology is at the level required for that to be a viable solution, all the way through automating cyber tipline reporting.

Once they obtain these images, the scammers threaten to expose the photos unless the victim pays them. #Nigeria features a vibrant religious landscape with multiple different faiths shaping the country. But the significant influence of #religion in Nigeria also presents a fertile ground for social engineering attacks against both #consumers and #enterprises. In a recent case, #Symantec has seen an actor who's attempting to lure Nigerian mobile users with a fake Quran-related app (AssunnahQuranApp.apk) that is in fact #AndroRAT in disguise. AndroRAT is a remote access tool (#RAT) for #Android that operates through a client-server model, allowing a remote attacker to control a victim's phone after installation. This includes accessing data such as location, call logs, and contacts, and performing actions like sending SMS messages or taking pictures. https://lnkd.in/gDCixuYP #Broadcom #Cybercrime #Cybersecurity #Mobile #SocialEngineering #SymantecEndpointProtectionMobile

Too often, I witness public figures portraying themselves as sole heroes, neglecting those who have undertaken the truly arduous and traumatic work. Therefore, I would like to extend my gratitude to the ethical hackers who have stood by my side over the years, working in the shadows and delving into the depths of the web with me. Their efforts have helped raise public awareness about sextortion groups and gather actionable intelligence for authorities. They continue to collect this information day and night, sacrificing their free time and mental health for these missions. They do it not for their own glory, but for the thousands of children affected. I know many ethical hacker groups that provide me with information 24/7, which I compile into reports for the relevant authorities. After my group garnered the attention of the authorities with the information we shared in the article, I also gained the attention of other hacker groups. These groups often provide crucial missing pieces to ongoing cases. It is often thanks to this information that the authorities are able to act. The immense stress these often very young ethical hackers experience through investigative OSINT work leads to extreme mental exhaustion, sadness, and despair. I have experienced this myself. Some time ago, I decided to support these groups with my professional knowledge on how to handle traumatic experiences, and I teach them OSINT and social engineering techniques to minimize trauma while maximizing information gathering. I share all my knowledge with them. Currently, a large OSINT cyber division is being established, bringing together all ethical hackers into a single division that I train professionally and for free. I offer them the opportunity to anonymously share their information through me directly with the relevant authorities. Through my OSINT work, I have been able to establish excellent contacts with people in key positions within authorities and NGOs who accept this information. The work of these anonymous OSINT groups is the foundation of every investigation, every media interview, and the rescue of many children. I find it essential to acknowledge the work of these silent and invisible heroes. Firefighters, disaster relief workers, police officers—all receive the respect they deserve for their work. I believe this respect should also be extended to the invisible, tirelessly working cyber heroes. #EthicalHacking #CyberSecurity #OSINT #SextortionAwareness #CyberHeroes #DigitalSafety #InformationSecurity #CyberInvestigation #ProtectOurChildren #CyberIntelligence https://lnkd.in/eSTUTj3U
