The article “Energy efficiency and recycling” suggest its audience ways on how to efficiently consume energy and also promote a recycling system. For instance the petroleum industry uses strong metals in the production of fuels. A catalyst which can be found in all Vehicles exhaust systems, houses most of the specific metals needed to produce fuels. Therefore the American petroleum institute urges individuals to recycle used catalyst. As it is possible that pieces of metals can potentially be extracted from them. The fascinating part of this article is that anyone can partake in such activity and potentially impact our energy system. #energy #PGE301

The future of chemicals and materials – the key is renewable carbon: biomass, CO2 and recycling. Stop using fossil carbon from the ground. Renewable energy and renewable carbon are the only future.
How will a net-zero #chemicalindustry look like in 2050? We evaluated 15 reports and the results are clear. Almost all reports since 2019 confirm: Only a combination of biomass, CO2, and recycling can make it happen. #sustainability #netzero2050

AUSTRALIAN ENERGY POLICY? UP THE CREEK IN A WIRE CANOE WITHOUT A PADDLE! “Australia has a national security problem when it comes to transport fuels. It’s worrying that Australia is almost entirely reliant on foreign oil for fuel consumption leaving it ill-prepared to deal with international disruptions,” said Richie Merzian, Climate & Energy Director at The Australia Institute. Currently, 51-53% of our imported refined petrol comes from Singapore's refineries, with 18% from South Korea, 12% from Japan and the rest from a range of other countries. Asian refineries in particular are extremely competitive in terms of production and transport costs. Coal liquefaction is a process of converting coal into liquid hydrocarbons: liquid fuels and petrochemicals. This process is often known as "Coal to X" or "Carbon to X", where X can be many different hydrocarbon-based products. However, the most common process chain is "Coal to Liquid Fuels" (CTL). During WWII Germany ran much of their industry on CTL. As Australia winds down coal fired electricity generation our high quality low contaminant coal could be converted to CTL-Synthetic gas. China has completed a large coal to gas liquefaction facility. Australian consumers produce an estimated 130kg of plastics every year almost all of which ends up in landfill. Clean plastic may be sorted and recycled or it can be processed under pressure and heat and turned into a diesel equivalent fuel. The 130kg does not include industrial plastic or that used in the construction or agriculture industries. Every kg of plastic makes an equivalent 1 litre of diesel or aviation gas. Imagine large municipal waste sorting which could turn this waste into fuel? With vast quantities of 'Clean high quality' coal Australia could be energy independent and massively reduce our balance of payments deficit. We are debating a nuclear domestic energy industry, however we should be primarily focussed on energy independence. Renewables are almost entirely manufactured outside Australia currently, with a proposed solar panel industry. As a matter of national security and prosperity we should be recycling plastic waste, we should use biofuels and coal to gas synthetic fuel to make Australia an exporter of liquid fuel. https://lnkd.in/gajebe_k

🌍 We're Heading to Fastmarkets' Coaltrans Asia 2024! We are excited to announce that Carlos Serrano Aguiar, our Briquetting Director, and Sergi Conesa, our APAC Sales Manager, will be attending this year’s Coaltrans Asia—the largest and longest-running coal event in Asia where the coal industry’s most pressing challenges and opportunities are discussed. As the global conversation shifts towards sustainability, the energy and metallurgical sectors face the urgent need to balance economic growth with environmental responsibility. At VERDES BRIQUETTING, we are proud to be at the forefront of this transition with our innovative extrusion systems and tailored recipes. These processes agglomerate coal and biochar fines into high-performance pellets with outstanding properties, offering a viable solution for sectors such as power generation, steel manufacturing, and cement production to significantly reduce their carbon footprints without losing efficiency. Biochar pellets are not just a step towards sustainability—they are a leap. By incorporating biochar into energy production and as a reductant, our process can reduce CO2 emissions by up to 80% compared to conventional coal. This represents a substantial contribution to the industry’s goals of lowering greenhouse gas emissions, particularly in hard-to-abate sectors. This year’s event will focus on the future of coal in the energy transition—a perfect platform to explore how our innovative technologies can align with your sustainability goals. We’re eager to engage with industry leaders, innovators, and stakeholders who share our vision for a sustainable future. If you’re attending Coaltrans or interested in learning more about the potential of biochar pellets to drive down emissions and fuel the transition to renewable energy, let’s connect! 👇 Comment below or reach out directly to schedule a meeting. Together, we can lead the way in transforming the coal industry for a sustainable tomorrow. #CoaltransAsia #Sustainability #Biochar #EnergyTransition #CO2Reduction #GreenTechnology #Briquetting #RenewableEnergy #CleanEnergy #GreenSteel #Steel #Transformation #Sustainable #Metcoal #Cokingcoal #Ironore #Pellet #Briquetting #Agglomeration #Waste
