This Independence Day, we celebrate America's entrepreneurial spirit with Bob Abbott, a disabled combat veteran who founded The Vintage Veteran. The success of The Vintage Veteran, a woodshop featuring handcrafted items for your home, is a shining example of SCORE's mission to foster vibrant small business communities through mentoring and education. After discovering SCORE, Abbott was paired with the perfect mentor—someone with extensive knowledge of handmade wooden products. “How can you find a better match than that?” Abbott reflects. “If you want your business to move to the next level, who better to help you than an expert in your field?” Are you ready to elevate your business? SCORE offers a wealth of valuable resources to help you succeed, and our experienced mentors are here to guide you every step of the way. ➡ https://lnkd.in/gaaZyVQm 📸: SCORE client Bob Abbott, owner of The Vintage Veteran #IndependenceDay

What a great morning in West Texas!! Elizabeth Chand (our Morgan Stanley Family Office Generalist and one amazing human being) was the featured speaker for the McCoy Family Speaker Series at the Anderson and Griffin Center for Family Business & Entrepreneurship School. Elizabeth is remarkable! Important topics covered regarding Family Governance - lots of great thoughts and lots of great questions requiring much thought. A favorite - How do you view your legacy? Big thanks to Rawls School of Business, The Anderson, The Griffin, and The McCoy Families. Such a great thing going on at Texas Tech with all this! #Rawls #TexasTech #FamilyBusiness #Family #Legacy

As I reflect on two incredible years working alongside Evan Simmons at Panoramic Pro Painting, I can't help but express my gratitude! The journey has been a testament to the power of business coaching and community support for small businesses. Connecting small ventures to vital resources is more than a mission—it's a commitment to fostering authenticity, storytelling, and a vibrant culture within our entrepreneurial community. In the world of small businesses, every story matters, every voice is heard. At SIYG Consulting Firm LLC., we believe in curating a space that goes beyond the ordinary—a space that resonates with authenticity, thrives on storytelling, and celebrates diverse cultures through the lens of Design Thinking and Strategic Planning both focused on leadership and executives. Business coaching isn't just about strategies; it's about empowering each business to unfold its unique narrative and culture. It's about providing unwavering support, guidance, and a network that understands the challenges and triumphs of the entrepreneurial journey. Here's to the entrepreneurs, the dreamers, the doers—may your ventures shine bright! Together, let's continue crafting a community where small businesses flourish, connect, and tell their extraordinary stories. #smallbusinesses #entrepreneurialjourney #gratitude #smallbusinesssaturday

It's a special #MentorMonday because it is #MLK Day *and* we are socked in with snow like nobody's business. Last week, I said thanks for the mentorship relationship with Evetty Satterfield, M.S.W., and just as I was hitting "post" I thought about the person that connected us -- Brandon Bruce. I've known Brandon long before H·A ThirtyOne. In fact, we met when we were both working inside the academy. He was one of those great minds always willing to try something new and test an alternative idea. When it came time for me to consider taking the entrepreneur route with H·A ThirtyOne, Brandon was one of the first people I turned to for advice and thoughtful counsel. Keen questions, encouragement, and that same attitude of "let's give it a try!" helped me take the leap. It was one of Brandon's many engagements with the Knoxville Entrepreneur Center, supporting the 100Knoxville program (https://100knoxville.com/) that provided the opportunity to meet Evetty. Her business, Advancing Lives, LLC was working in education, and so was H·A ThirtyOne, so of course I wanted to meet her. And our relationship bloomed from there. Brandon's easy openness, quick ability to put energy behind an idea, and his consistent encouragement to simply say, "why not?" and walk a few miles down new paths (or ride his bike, as the case may be) have stuck with me. Some new adventures will be a success. Some will be valuable in other ways. But being open, trying, and giving new ideas a chance...those are the lessons to keep in constant practice. Thank you, Brandon! #highered, #entrepreneurship #cycling #newideas #marketing #communications #collegesanduniversities #mentorship

As Black Business Month winds down, I want to highlight Operation HOPE, which has amazing, free resources for Black business owners and entrepreneurs: https://bit.ly/3KQ1r18 The Small Business Development program is all about educating, coaching, and connecting. Their small business coaches support Black business owners and entrepreneurs with starting and growing their businesses with group education and individual coaching sessions. They can also connect business owners and entrepreneurs with specific resources (information, introductions to individuals and organizations outside Operation HOPE). 1 Million Black Businesses (1MBB) aims to start, grow, and scale one million Black businesses by 2030 — a lofty and admirable goal that the initiative is well on its way to achieving. 1MBB is an extension of Operation HOPE's Small Business Development Program that includes: an 8-week workshop covering topics like evaluating feasibility, market research and development, access to capital, and more; mentoring from business experts at some of the top companies in the country; access to capital; and partnerships with cities including Memphis (TN), St. Louis (MO), Pittsburgh (PA), Birmingham (AL), Charlotte (NC), Jackson (MS). #BlackBusinessMonth #Blackowned #Blackbusiness #smallbusinesssupport #growyourbusiness
