EU CO2 standards for cars and vans and the 2035 zero-emission target are essential frameworks in building Europe’s industrial future and boosting long-term investments, on top of achieving our decarbonization goals. 🌱 Together with other leading European associations, we call on newly elected EU policy-makers to seize the opportunity offered by the #emobility transition, starting with over 580,000 new jobs. 📈 To accelerate investments and drive a new EU industrial success story, regulatory stability and legal certainty are essential. We are hard at work to ensure a successful transition to a zero-emission future and are ready to join hands with EU policy-makers to further focus on enabling conditions. 🌍 Let's look ahead to the future together!

💡New position paper released!💡 Smart charging is a game-changer in #emobility, but more needs to be done. 🔋Smart charging adjusts the intensity of electricity delivered to an electric vehicle's battery in real-time based on electronic communication. It can optimize grid capacity by adapting #EV charging to the needs of both the grid and consumers. Smart charging can: ⚡️ increase peak network capacity ⚡️ integrate renewable energy ⚡️ reduce energy curtailment ⚡️ cut grid upgrade costs, saving €29 billion annually and lowering CO2 emissions significantly ⚡️ reduce costs for EV owners. To unlock the full potential of smart charging, existing barriers must be removed. Recent EU legislation is a step in the right direction, but effective implementation is crucial to make smart, fast charging available for all. Check out our latest position paper to learn more:

This marks a significant milestone in our partnership. The shift to #electricvehicles (EVs) is transforming energy, transport, and digital systems, creating a new, integrated ecosystem. Our organisations commit to enhancing transparency and collaborating towards creating added value together. We are excited to release our implementation guide on the RED III credit mechanism for EV charging infrastructure! 🌱 Do you know what RED III stands for? 🔋 The Renewable Energy Directive (RED III) provides that Member States create a marketplace for the credits generated by delivering electricity to Electric Vehicles (EVs) via charging infrastructure. We created an practical guide to help national authorities develop these credit mechanisms. 📘 Our guide offers an in-depth look at the RED III credit scheme and current systems in France, Germany, Austria, Belgium, and the Netherlands, providing valuable insights and lessons learnt for other Member States. 🛠️ It also provides practical recommendations for implementing the credit mechanism at the national level, drawing from the first-hand experience of ChargeUp Europe's members. 🌍 This guide will facilitate the timely and ambitious creation of credit mechanisms that promote private investment, expand EV charging across the EU, and help EU countries meet their charging infrastructure deployment targets.
