This ad is doing the rounds. It's a monty python-esque Aussie variant. Warning, this may be offensive for vegans & vegetarians. Why it works (ranked by importance): - The product is mentioned less than 1% of the whole 3 min (that's a crazy long) ad. The focus is on the story, and evoking emotion. - It's overly stylised. Quirky is different. And different stands out - It cleverly addresses multiple generations, making it mass-inclusive, which is key for maximising reach. - It's taking a common daily experience (generational gap) and making fun of it, but also a few others, including being hooked on your phone, social trends and politics. This makes it relatable, and also nationalistic provoking the viewer's sense of identity. - It's rammed with joke after joke after joke, making it a light watch

Let's laugh (and see animals), but let's definitely not cry... —Overwhelmingly, people (69% of them) really just want funny Super Bowl ads this year (people are not looking for patriotic or purpose-driven ads) I'm not out of turn in saying there's enough serious stuff going on around us that take up space in our minds 364 days each year --- so, instead of seeing serious or purpose-driven Super Bowl ads, people are ready (resoundingly-so) to just sit back and laugh during the anticipated SB24 commercial breaks. Social Media Zoos I discovered recently that when my posts reach 3000 views or impressions on Linkedin, they each equate to $90 worth of advertising/brand awareness value. I assume these rates apply to all the social media platforms. I have become a gamekeeper in a zoo where starved humans are behind bars salivating for scraps of knowledge from any brilliant mind the zoo owners have harvested into their ‘feed buckets’ . The horror is that the humans have become so addicted to feeding that they’ve lost patience with reading. All prose/science and particularly good prose/science in print allows one to pause for a minute an hour or a week, even on one line or on one page and ruminate. One doesn’t have the unfulfilled appetite to mouse-click to the next bucket/hit like a cocaine addict. Viva livre!
