"As we head into back-to-school season, getting prepared is not just about freshly sharpened pencils and school supplies, it is also a time to empower young people with the tools they need to be successful,” said Jim Clark, president & CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of America. “At Boys & Girls Clubs around the country, each day after school caring mentors not only support what kids are learning during the school day, they equip young people with experiences and opportunities that build resilience, character, and curiosity. We are incredibly grateful for our partners, who are generously supporting Boys & Girls Club kids and teens across the nation to make this school year one of the best years yet.” To support, please visit bgca.org/b2s. W I N N I N G “Winning doesn't always mean being first. Winning means you're doing better than you've done before.” ― Bonnie Blair At Sherpa Kids, we look at winning more deeply than keeping the score of our highlights. Winning is when we acknowledge and work on any areas of improvement, winning is when we see a child express kindness to another and winning is when a challenge arises and we get a chance to learn something new. The list goes on. Winning to us is not about achievements in itself, it's the process of achievement that sparks our interests and keeps us motivated to do better and to truly make a difference. The reason why we enjoy books and movies is not because of the ending, it's the story in between. It's about the challenges, the plot twists, the victories and the trials along the way. It's about how we stay humble throughout our wins and equally throughout our losses. We choose to look at winning differently because our children deserve better. In a world that drives us to compete and compare, it is our job to protect our children and give them the correct tools to live life authentically and in the way that they want. The tools we give our children are made of resilience, respect and honour. They are also made of compassion and unconditional love as well as the strength to acknowledge and express their needs, disappointments and frustrations before they get back up, dust themselves off and try again or perhaps, try something different. Winning is so much more meaningful than how many medals our children have, it's so much more than their grades and their skills. Winning is when our children are not seen as better or less than the next child, winning is equal to every child and we believe each child has the ability to achieve. So long as our winning is made up of kindness, love, courage and honesty, then we can never truly lose. What does winning look like to you? #sherpakidsireland #winningtogether #nochildleftbehind

Thank you to our friends The Unstuck Group for this interview. “We haven’t historically been a proponent of churches starting preschools to try to reach the unchurched in their communities in the past, but we're sensing a shift in the culture. Talk to just about any young family across the country and they’ll tell you finding quality child care is one of the most significant challenges weighing them down. In this interview, Tony Morgan sits down with Frank Bealer from Phase Franchise Partners to why churches might find more opportunity to reach young families by owning and operating a preschool in this decade. They cover topics like: - Why most church-run preschools barely break even, and therefore don’t really help fund additional ministry - What attributes or resources a church needs to have to be a good fit for a strategy like this - The principles Phase has discovered that make operating childcare centers a viable option for churches who want to put their facilities to better use - Major mistakes or landmines to avoid” Learn more about Phase Franchise Partners: https://lnkd.in/edvGBjj2 https://lnkd.in/eweiEEwS
