On Wednesday, June 26, CEVSOC’s Community team (Akshara Yogesvaran, Tiara Ekanayake, Henry Zhang, Sarah Pamatian, Pragya Maini, Elke Giordano, Claudia Lenzner, and Georgina Daisy Poulava) held the Women in Civil Networking Night in the Laing O’Rourke office in North Sydney. Students also had the chance to network with industry representatives from Laing O'Rourke, DT Infrastructure, Ward Civil & Environmental Engineering, Arup, Aurecon and PSM. We would like to thank DAN SU, Ravinder Kaur, Ellen Heath, Nicole Waterman, Giselle Massoud, and Jenny Austin for sharing their experiences during the panel discussion. We would also like to recognise CEVSOC’s Marketing team (Janice Li, Selina Li and Nicholas Wong), and the event photographers (Kush Prajapati and Natalie Tam), for their efforts in promoting and capturing the event. Finally, thank you to all of the students who attended. We hope you gained a deeper understanding of future career opportunities and the importance of gender equality in engineering.

Dear LinkedIn Team, Thank you for joining us in celebrating the international women in Engineering day. In the same spirit, I wish to send my heartfelt gratitude to our guest LYDIA NAJJUMA and Eng. Nsiimire Annet for honouring my invite. Your attendance was appreciated and your participation made the even more special. We appreciate your encouragement, support and commitment that depicted the theme of this year, Enhanced by Engineering. The United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 5 aims to promote Gender Equality and empower Women and girls. As we honored the accomplishments of women engineers in global spaces, we also acknowledged the challenges they face. We recognized the gender gap that persists in the field and the biases that hinder equal opportunities. But we reaffirm our commitment to creating a more inclusive and diverse engineering community. We pledge to support and empower women engineers, to provide platforms for their voices to be heard, and to celebrate their successes. Let us continue to build a world where everyone has an equal opportunity to engineer, to innovate, and to make a difference. #INWED #EnhancedbyEngineering #UnitedNationsSustainabledevelopmentgoal5

Today, we celebrate women in the engineering community 🌍 International Women in Engineering Day (INWED) serves as a reminder of how far we have come and how far we still have to go in achieving gender equality in engineering. This commitment reinforces our determination to continue advocating for diversity and inclusion, both within our team and in the broader engineering community. COWI is committed to fostering an inclusive environment where every engineer, regardless of gender, can thrive and contribute to their full potential. We acknowledge and appreciate your hard work, dedication, and innovative spirit. Together, let’s continue to shape the future of engineering. We asked our colleagues about women’s roles in the engineering industry and the biases they might face. Their responses shed light on important topics and insights, highlighting the progress we have made and the challenges we still face. Watch the video below to hear our colleagues discuss the impact of women in engineering and their experiences with industry biases 👇 #INWED2024 #WomenInEngineering #DiversityInSTEM

Bridging the gender gap in the A/E/C industry is a topic near and dear to my heart. We have certainly come a long way since I started but we still have a lot of work to do.
How do we bridge the gender gap in the A/E/C industry and why is it important? Anita Gupta, SE, chair of Watry Design's Justice, Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) committee, writes about this topic in the latest issue of Parking & Mobility Magazine for the International Parking & Mobility Institute (IPMI). https://lnkd.in/gkC-wUpm

A huge step forward for Gender Equality in Australia this week as the Workplace Gender Equality Agency published the median gender pay gap data for the first time. The publishing of this data tells us that there are still significant gender pay gaps in Australia and hopefully it represents a catalyst for everyone to take further action and have more conversations around closing the gap. As I look at the data I recognise that we in Arcadis have made some great progress, especially in the last 2 years, but we have more work to do to close the gap. Through initiatives such as our STEAM outreach activities and global gender diversity targets, we are actively working towards positive change as #OneArcadis. I'd encourage everyone to dig into the published data and start the conversations today so we close this gap as fast as we can. https://lnkd.in/gVNCk5yW

It's International Women's Day—a time to celebrate the strides we've made and the roads yet to travel. Today, we want to shine a light on the incredible women in the Construction sector. Women in Construction, you've been a force of change, challenging stereotypes and breaking through the concrete ceiling with resilience. It's not just about representation; it's about leadership and innovation, where you lead by example and build pathways for others. Here's to the architects, the engineers, the site managers, and every woman who helps turn blueprints into landmarks. You're not just constructing buildings; you're building dreams, careers, and a more inclusive future. To the men in the industry, your allyship is crucial. Together, we build better. Let's harness today's momentum to fortify the foundations of gender equality in construction, brick by brick. Happy International Women's Day! #InternationalWomensDay #Construction #GenderEquality
