Last week, Supplier.io CEO, Aylin Basom, attended the MSDUK Business and Innovation Show and shared her expertise alongside her esteemed peers on the Supplier Diversity Trends, Best Practices and Benchmarking panel moderated by MSDUK's Founder and CEO Mayank Shah. With Basom were Casey Oakes, Head of Community Impact at Google, Denis Ford, MBA MCIPS, International Sourcing Leader EMEA at Cummins Inc., and Selina McCole, Global Head of ESG for Operations, Supply Chain and Supplier Diversity at Goldman Sachs. Together, they highlighted 10 key takeaways that can drive success for supplier diversity managers: 1.      Executive support is important but also ensures supplier diversity goals are tied to overall company KPIs.    2.      Create awareness and education within your organization on the importance and benefits of supplier diversity.   3.      Establish strong partnership with certifying agencies such as MSDUK.   4.      Collaboration and partnerships with NGOs are important.   5.      We are stronger and can be more effective when we partner together towards a common goal.   6.      Data is the key to any successful supplier diversity program to identify opportunities and set goals.    7.      Implement a strong technology stack to be able to scale and ensure data quality.   8.      Automate data collection and validation processes where possible.    9.      Collaborating with a 3rd party can ensure access to the most current and comprehensive data available.   10.  Use benchmarking for not only measurement tool but also as a strategic asset.    It was an incredible event and we're happy to partner with MSDUK and our colleagues to share how through executive support, data, and partnership, we can move supplier diversity forward! #supplierdiversity #benchmarking #supplierdiversitydata

2023 has been a truly momentous year for NorthStandard. Following the merger in February, we have enjoyed meeting new colleagues, visiting our global offices and attending key industry conferences. Some of our highlights include our wider product offering, access to broader expertise and experience, and our new geographic and specialty sectors structure that provide even greater member and customer focus. Reflecting on 2023, we acknowledge that shipping and world trade have been key drivers and beneficiaries of globalisation. The last 70 years have seen the shipping industry thrive from the sustained trade and transported goods growth. However, in today's ever-changing world, many factors impact shipping and cause constant disruption, including port congestion, inflation, extreme weather, energy security, shipping's ongoing transition to decarbonisation, and other factors. Global trade's future nature and direction are uncertain, and the shipping industry must adjust to overcome these challenges. Our global expertise means we’re ideally placed to support the wider shipping industry, governments, and regulators through the current complexities and challenges. Despite the ongoing global and industry-related challenges, we are incredibly proud of #OurNorthStandardPeople. We know 2024 will be another historic year, and we'll undertake the voyage together. According to EY’s poll, 63% of C-suite executives in the manufacturing space believe that the biggest competitive threat in the next three years will come from a company outside their current sector.
