Week Well Spent My Experience as a PI Selection Panel Member at a Top B-School I recently had the honor of being invited by a top B-School to be part of the Personal Interview (PI) panel member. While I have been part of selection committees for MBA programs after undergraduate studies in the past, this was my first opportunity to interact with 12th-grade students who are applying for an integrated degree. The experience was truly different and enriching. Engaging with the current generation of students, understanding their mindset, aspirations, and perspectives was an eye-opener. Their enthusiasm, fresh ideas, and unique outlook on the future left a lasting impression on me. Key Learnings: 1. Thorough Preparation: These students had done extensive homework about the institute, demonstrating their commitment and keen interest. 2. Competitive Spirit: Their awareness of the kind of competition they would face and their readiness to tackle it was impressive. 3. Clarity of Goals: Despite their young age, many had a clear vision of what they wanted to achieve and how the integrated degree would help them get there. I am grateful for this opportunity to learn from these young minds and to be a part of their journey as they step into higher education. This experience has broadened my understanding of the evolving educational landscape and the bright future of these students. #Bschool #Education #gratitudepost #Futureleaders #personalinterview

Ever wondered if a science enthusiast like me could find a place in the 𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱? My background may not shout "𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀", but isn't life all about embracing the unexpected? In initial college years, not everyone has their path laid out. I often find myself & my friends caught in the crossroads of choosing between 𝗺𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀, 𝗠𝗕𝗔 or 𝗨𝗣𝗦𝗖. The complaint lingers that a science background might be a constraint in the corporate world. Enter 𝗰𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 – the ultimate game-changer. They're tailor-made for everyone, whether you crave corporate exposure from a different background or seek to amplify your CV with the same background. 𝘋𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘥𝘪𝘱 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘵𝘰𝘦𝘴 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘰 𝘷𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘰𝘶𝘴 𝘸𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘣𝘦𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘪𝘵𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘰𝘤𝘦𝘢𝘯 𝘰𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘮𝘴. Now let's talk about finding the right case competition with numerous options available on UNSTOP. Recently, I participated in a competition in a college without being swayed by the college's popularity. It was an experience that taught me that not all case competitions are created equal. Picture this: Amid our ppt presentation, we were hit with an unexpected pause for the principal's speech. A momentary hiccup that threw off our momentum . No blame game here- just a realization that it's the quality that outshines the quantity of competitions on your CV. Now imagine the buzz at SRCC, Asia's top commerce college, as it gears up for the SRCC Business Conclave 2024. Brace yourself for 𝗔𝗻𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗼𝘀 (𝗞)𝗮𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 – a unique 𝗛𝗥, 𝗣𝗥 & 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 showdown. With generous cash prizes, participation from elite institutions like DUs, IITs & IIMs & a lineup of innovative challenges, it's an opportunity you won't want to miss!! Reflections!! Let's Congratulate Dr Belinda Rathogwa, PhD (Dr.B) On the 20th of July 2024, I had the honour of speaking at the celebratory party of my PhD student who recently graduated. The brief was: "Good Afternoon 🌻 I hope you are well! I would like to ask if you would kindly share a few words of wisdom for the new Dr (5min) at Belinda’s party this weekend?" by Lesego Ndlebe I felt honoured and excited, but I paused a bit when I saw "Words of Wisdom." I asked myself, "Have I lived long enough? Do I have hair gray enough to share words of wisdom?" My answer was a definite yes, despite the small voice trying to lie to me, saying, "No, you don't have words of wisdom." From that moment, I began thinking about what I would say to the new Dr, and I landed on something I have observed many struggle with #SELF-PROMOTION, which tends to be particularly challenging for women. The Words of Wisdom "Your graduation certificate won't speak for itself, and your PhD thesis stored on your laptop unfortunately doesn’t either. So, who needs to talk? The graduate. How will opportunities seeking PhDs know you have one unless you tell them? You need to share your achievements with everyone who cares to listen. When people know what you have achieved and what you can do, only then can they recommend you and mention your name in the right places. Don't let anyone tell you that you're not humble when you talk about your achievements. It's called self-promotion, not bragging/pride. It’s hard to earn a PhD. You can’t endure such pain and come back, put the certificate in your drawer, and keep quiet about it" Once again, welcome to the NQF level 10 crew, Dr. Belinda. I learned a lot from you, and your attitude and openness to learning will take you far. Whether you will see benefit from your PhD or not is 100% dependent on you .....It all starts with SELF PROMOTION Women remember, don't be humble about your achievements! No one else will promote you except you Wits Business School University of the Witwatersrand #VentureIntoGreatness #GrowthEmpowermentPassion #PhD #SelfPromotion #Education #Thesis #PostGraduate DrJ Business Support
