Greetings to all the connections, Unique microstructural features and their effect on mechanical properties has been an active field of research in the additive manufacturing community. Cellular high dislocation density regions decorated by solutes is one such key features which is known to dictate the deformation behavior of AM alloys. Our recent article on understanding the rate controlling deformation mechanisms in AM SS316L is finally published in International Journal of Plasticity (IJP). This investigation sheds light on the interaction of mobile dislocations with the solute rich and solute lean regions. Strain rate jump tests are performed to understand the phenomena. Notably, flow transients on rate change are understood based on dynamic pileup readjustment mechanism. 🇮🇳 Defense Research Gets Boost with New DRDO Facility at IIT Kanpur 🪖 Amid major institutional reforms in state's defence sector, Indian government is taking defense research to the next level with the launch of a new DRDO-Industry-Academia Centre of Excellence (DIA CoE) at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Kanpur. 🧪 This collaboration will provide a platform for scientists, researchers, and students to exchange knowledge and expertise, and develop cutting-edge technologies for national security. The new centre will lead focused research in different areas: ◾️ Printing on flexible substrates: ◾️ Advanced nanomaterials; ◾️ Accelerated material design and development; ◾️ High energy materials and bio-engineering.

Interesting research on the performance of thin-ply carbon tapes using high modulus fibers and with high fiber volume fraction: "...shows the significant strength and stiffness increase recorded through the combination of the thin high-modulus tapes and the increased fiber volume fraction". This is what we are seeing in Composite Sound's Thin-ply Carbon Diaphragms (TPCD). Great seeing our mother company Oxeon AB being in the forefront of composite technology research and advancement.

I wish I could tell you a story about how I chose a goal from childhood and went for it no matter what. But that's not what my story is about. Like most of my peers, I had a hard time at school deciding what I wanted to do as an adult. When I was finishing 11th grade, I relied only on the experience of my parents and acquaintances. There were no coaches or career consultants around me then. But there were a lot of opinions: ☝ You should choose a profession once and for life. ☝ The job should be stable and the profession should be respected. ☝ You should study economics. They'll always be in demand. Some of them I agreed with, some of them I didn't. But thanks to my parents, they didn't pressure me or force me to do what they thought was best for me. I had a choice, and I made the decision myself. I went to university to study engineering. Why this university? How did I decide to go to graduate school, even though I didn't plan to become a scientist? You can read the answers at the link below. Spoiler alert: my story is about following your interests and desires. It's about the fact that it is possible to work first and then go back to study. And that you can change your career path as many times as you want. I promise you can!
