There’s a lot of commercial GCs opposed to hiring someone with a residential or civil background that wants to make the transition. Contractors tend to want someone that can dive in on day 1 and know exactly what to do. But the problem is that there’s only so many people with the exact background they want. This leads to the belief that there’s nobody out there to hire. But that’s just not the case. There’s a lot more people capable than you think. A blind eye is just being turned to them. They may not be the "perfect" employee you’re looking for when you first hire them, but they can be there in no time with proper training and mentorship. A lot of candidates are being left on the table due to this way of thinking. Take advantage of this opportunity that’s right in front of you. #groundupconstructionrecruiting #construction #hiring #constructionrecruiter

It's unfortunate news to hear that Wooldridge Contractors, a Surrey-based company with nearly 50 years of history, has filed a notice of intention to appoint administrators. What's particularly concerning is that this marks the fourth significant contractor to face such a fate in the last six months. The volatility in the construction industry seems to be on the rise, and it raises questions about the broader challenges and pressures facing companies in this sector. The company's specialization in groundworks, civils, and contract build projects, along with its substantial turnover and profit figures, underscores the severity of the situation. It's troubling to hear that despite their longstanding presence and apparent success, they've reached such a critical point. Moreover, the impact extends beyond Wooldridge Contractors alone, as its sister company, Wooldridge Ecotec, is also facing difficulties, adding another layer to the complexity of the situation. This development prompts us to reflect on the broader implications for the construction industry, from economic pressures to market dynamics and perhaps even systemic issues within the sector. It's a sobering reminder of the challenges many businesses face, even those with a long history and seemingly strong financial standing. I'd be interested to hear others' perspectives on what this trend signifies for the construction industry and how stakeholders might navigate these turbulent times. #constructionindustry #contractors #contractor #volatility #construction #industry #groundworks #civil #recruitment #construction #administrator

According to research from the Associated General Contractors of America and the GroundBreak Carolinas, I listed the top 5 roles that are increasingly in demand in the commercial and residential construction verticals in the Carolinas: 1. Project Managers: Responsible for overseeing construction projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget. 2. Superintendents: On-site managers who coordinate daily operations, manage subcontractors, and ensure compliance with safety regulations. 3. Estimators: Professionals who assess the costs of construction projects, preparing detailed estimates and budgets. 4. Construction Laborers: Skilled and general laborers who perform a variety of tasks on construction sites, including demolition, building, and excavation. 5. Skilled Tradespeople: This includes electricians, plumbers, and carpenters, whose specialized skills are crucial for various stages of construction projects. These roles are critical due to the rapid growth in population, significant infrastructure investments, and the rise of technology hubs in areas like Charlotte, driving the demand for both commercial and residential construction projects. #Construction #SouthCarolina #NorthCarolina #Trends #Openings #Hiring
