💛A huge thank you to our partners, the British Promotional Merchandise Association (BPMA), who recently met a charity need. 👏 When Home-Start Elmbridge joined A Good Thing, they let us know the staff at the charity were in desperate need of new monitors. The situation was critical – there were not enough computers for everyone in the team. Olive Leach, Development Officer at the charity, was delighted when she saw the BPMA listing come through via A Good Thing and by how smooth the whole process was – from being matched with the BPMA to receiving the items: “I received a very quick response from the BPMA and the delivery process was very smooth. The company did their best to ensure that collection was made to suit Home-Start.” A huge thank you to Carey Trevill and the team at the BPMA for being massive champions of A Good Thing – together we're sending less to landfill and more to a good cause. 💛 🌻 Thank you to our wonderful volunteer, Caitlin Gee, for reporting on this match. Donations are essential for us to keep running. ❤️ Every single item you donate, whether it's a sofa, washing machine, or dining table, can make a significant difference in someone's life. 💕 Your contributions can help bring warmth and stability to those who are going through a difficult time. 🙂 Together, we can create a stronger and more supportive community. 💪 Let's make a lasting impact together. If you have furniture that you no longer need, rather than putting it for sale on Facebook Marketplace, consider donating it to us. Your generosity can change lives, and we appreciate your support. 👍 Come and join the #reuserevolution!✊ https://kfr.org.uk [email protected] 01380 720200 #recycling #sustainability #dignity #noneedtowaste #amazeballs #reduce #environment #diy #repurpose #charity #kfrwiltshire #reuse #sustainable #familiesincrisis #green #recylce #reusereducerecylce #sustainableliving #thisiswiltshire #devizes #donate

There’s been a lot of talk about charities and politics of late. We’ve seen charities weigh in on the government’s environmental policies in recent weeks, which has been met with criticism in some parts. The accusation being that it isn’t their place to comment. That they should be apolitical. The Charity Commission was quick to clarify its view on this, releasing updated guidelines for charities on social media use, which make it clear charities can campaign on emotive issues if it ties back to their causes. But what does the public think? According to our new Donor Pulse Autumn report: 👍 67% think the government should give charities more funding 🧡 61% think charities are most effective at standing up for those in need ⚖️ 51% think charities should campaign for change So there’s certainly an appreciation for the work good causes do and a healthy level of support for them commenting on the issues that matter to them, particularly among the under 45s. Entering the political arena requires plenty of thought from charities, but if they feel strongly about a subject that’s relevant to their cause, there will be public support. Why the ReS-Food project ❓ The majority of both restaurants, hotels and charities confirmed that they have no policy for managing surplus food and donating it to those in need. 🧐 In addition, they provide very little or no training to their employees. 🧐The project can help with this, as respondents felt that a system for managing and donating surplus food could be built into their existing business models. #erasmus #foodrescue #EUproject #charity #sustainability
