Last weekend, I had the incredible opportunity to hike through this breathtaking gorge as part of a multi-day wilderness adventure. Accompanied by my husband Bruce, and our two adult children, we were celebrating Bruce’s 60th birthday.
Throughout this week, I have been captivated by this picture, not only for its awe-inspiring beauty (that's our oldest son, Josh, gazing up), but also for the powerful metaphor it represents regarding the #challenges #rural-based businesses face in #attracting and #retaining #professionals and #highlyskilled talent.
When I initially collaborate with my rural-based clients (mostly #health and #socialcare businesses), they often share a common narrative:
- They are investing significant amounts of money in SEEK ads, but are not receiving applications from the right type of candidates.
- They are concerned that long-term vacancies will further strain their current staff, ultimately leading to burnout and further exacerbating the problem.
However, it's important to note that the workforce shortage situation in rural areas isn't entirely bleak.
Practical #solutions do exist that can bolster your professional workforce.
But let me be frank with you.
- There is no quick fix for attracting the right individuals and ensuring their commitment to stay.
