OPEN TO WORK - HIRING --- The interesting thing is that when an employee marks themselves as "open to work" on LinkedIn, people take a screenshot and share it, saying things like, “Oh, did they quit their job again? Were they fired again? They are not being valued, they are useless, can’t perform well, there’s no point in hiring them, they won’t be able to do anything.” Such talk starts in the market. But for #companies that post #job openings on social media, like "SEO required," "PPC required," "financial analyst required," or many other roles like "SVP required," "VP required," no one questions their credibility. No one asks why the assistant manager and the president are both looking for new hires, with no management role assigned to anyone. When companies post job openings, no one asks them, “Didn’t you hire someone for social media or PPC six months or three months ago? You fired them, and now you are posting a job again. Why is that?” It’s possible that companies don’t understand the people they hire and end up firing them, just as it’s possible that employees don’t understand the company and leave. Why is the employee always the one to be blamed? Moreover, when a company gets a bad reputation or there are issues like withholding salaries or other things, people say it’s due to the company’s policies. They have their policies if salaries are withheld or other issues arise, but shouldn’t we also question the companies? Shouldn’t their screenshots be shared as well, showing that they hired someone six months ago and are hiring again? There’s a big difference between new hiring and expansion. If a company is expanding or starting something new that requires social media, PPC, marketing, or branding professionals, then it’s understandable. Dear Hiring Managers, Please stop posting unrealistic jobs. Like asking for 5 years of experience for entry-level positions. If you're proud of being a transparent company, post the salary. If you're looking for remote employees, stop asking them to come to the office. Instead, let's cultivate an environment of honesty. List the actual requirements, not the ideal ones. Recognize that skills can be taught and potential can be nurtured in the right conditions. Exceptional talent is not just found in years of experience, but in the ability to adapt, learn and grow. Don't diminish the value of a role by inflating its requirements. Value potential. Value 'fit'. Value honesty. Let's do better. What Mike meant we can plan and prepare and then unexpected turns that throw a wrench into your plans. The unexpected turn? The state of the market. Salaries in some cases are going down and people are expecting “in person.” Your salary requirement might need to change. Your “ I only want remote” might need to be reconsidered if you want a role.
