Why is it that some mediocre brands get a ton of press, and ones with a great product or mission get zip, zero, nada? If you aren't getting the press you deserve, you aren't telling the right story -- full stop -- but we can help you uncover what your sticky story is and how to leverage it for great press. LinkedIn Top Voice | Women In Tech Advocate | Driving innovation and transformation across Defence, Policing, Counter Terrorism, and Criminal Justice
What's it actually like being a woman in tech? Why are we still seeing fewer women than men in entry level roles? How do we ensure the women who do enter the industry stay long term? Sarah Persov was kind enough to share her talk from Karren Brady's Women in Business & Tech Expo (1000% recommend - one of the best tech events I've been to) which gives you a bull-💩 free account. USSF officer transitioning to industry • Proven, results-driven executive director • Highly-skilled engineer & technologist • Innovative & strategic thinker
This is a crazy thread on Twitter/X: A tech conference had a line up of heavy hitter male speakers and 3 women. Except the 2 of 3 women were fake...as in they were not real people. The organizer created fake profiles to make it appear the conference was more diverse. This is a paid, sold-out conference with a large number of attendees. Crazy! There are so many well qualified women in tech (and DoD/Space/you name it) that it would have taken less real work than creating fake profiles to find some great women speakers. If you are organizing a conference and can't find women speakers, let me know and I'll point you to some amazingly talented and qualified people. As a side note, I get asked to participate in a lot of panels. The first thing I tell the organizer is that I have a hard "no manel" rule -- as in no panels of all men. I've declined some invitations because of this. (Thanks to Dan Ward who introduced me to the term "manel"!) I guess I now have to add a "no AI generated women speakers" rule!? https://lnkd.in/dT5QAPBh

While women and girls aspire to break barriers and achieve their dreams, there persists a substantial gap between our aspirations and actual achievements. Tomorrow I'll be on the Keynote stage at the Women in Business & Tech Expo. In this keynote, I will delve deep into the multifaceted challenges and barriers that hinder women from turning their dreams into reality. I will shed light on the social, cultural, and systemic factors that have perpetuated this aspiration-achievement gap. Ultimately, this keynote aims to inspire and empower everyone to recognize, address, and actively work to eliminate the barriers that have long impeded women’s progress. By understanding the root causes and challenges, we can collectively strive for a more inclusive, equitable, and empowered future where women’s aspirations are not just dreams but tangible realities.
