Great effort in leveling up UAE's circular economy, HH! Malaysia should explore WTE further since we produce more than 38000 metric tonnes of municipal solid waste daily. We have more than 100 conventional landfills and by 2050 we will run out of space for solid waste disposal. A recent report by the WWF also found that Malaysia is among the worst consumers of plastic packaging in Asia and only 15% of the total waste is safely disposed away! This is very worrying and we must work together to reduce waste sent to landfills. We need to improve the recycling rate and convert waste to energy, in support of the circular economy and Sustainable Development Goals. Hoping we will be able to see more efforts in large, medium or small scale WTE solutions in Malaysia. IIB is happy to explore opportunities and seek collaboration in this field with our strategic stakeholders. #circulareconomy #circularsolutions #wastetoenergy #wastemanagement

I inaugurated the world’s largest and most efficient waste-to-energy facility in Warsan featuring an investment of AED 4 billion, a remarkable project that reinforces Dubai’s status as a global leader in sustainable infrastructure. The facility is capable of generating 220 megawatt-hours of renewable energy, which can power 135,000 residential units. The facility can process 2 million tonnes of waste per year without any adverse environmental impact. We congratulate the exceptional teams involved in this unique project. We are committed to deploying advanced technologies to build a brighter and more sustainable future.
