This Black History Month, we renew our commitment to racial equity and inclusion. By awakening awareness in ourselves and those around us, we believe we can cultivate a generation of service superstars who are equipped to challenge their own bias, engage with uncomfortable truths, and advocate relentlessly for justice. If the arc of the moral universe bends toward justice, it may be only because of the hard work of generations of activists, leaders, and communities…which means progress relies on the next generation continuing to work hard to bend the arc once more. Learn more about our values: https://lnkd.in/ekuSy4F8 - Ryan & Thomas Growney SG’24 #NewServiceAcademy Image description: Against a dark blue background, a white box displays the words "We Center Justice," echoed by receding layers of the same sentence, copied, which fade into transparency at the back of the white box. Behind the white box, the words "Youth Service" are repeated over and over horizontally, in an orange Varsity/Letterman-style font.

This Black History Month, we're taking a moment to look back at the legal milestones that have carved the path to justice and equality in America. Our graphic timeline isn't just a series of dates; it's a testament to the relentless pursuit of civil rights and the profound impact of those who dared to challenge the status quo. From Dred Scott v. Sandford in 1857 to Shelby County v. Holder in 2013, each marker represents a pivotal shift in our nation's legal landscape. As we reflect on these moments, we're reminded of the courage it took to confront injustice and the collective effort required to move our society forward. At Fulmer Sill, we draw inspiration from these milestones. They fuel our commitment to championing justice and equality, both in the courtroom and within our community. These historical markers serve as a reminder of how far we've come and how much work still lies ahead. We invite you to join us in this reflection. Take a closer look at our timeline, share your thoughts, or contribute your own stories of justice and perseverance. Each voice adds depth to our understanding and strength to our resolve. As we honor these milestones, let's recommit to the values they embody. The journey towards true equality continues, and at Fulmer Sill, we're dedicated to being active, informed, and compassionate participants in this journey, every single day. #FulmerSill #engageinformconnect #BlackHistoryMonth #LegalHistory #CivilRights #Justice #Equality

On Juneteenth, we commemorate the ending of slavery in the United States, while also acknowledging the long-lasting horrendous legacy that it has left on our society and Black Americans. The stain of slavery reminds us of the past we must face and reconcile with to ensure a better future for our nation, our state, and our community. For Black Americans who continue to bear the burden of systematic racism, injustice, and hate, we know that commemorating this day is only a small part of a long journey toward racial justice, equity, and freedom. At Empire Justice Center, we are committed to this journey and to the communities we serve. Concretely, this includes operating a very active internal Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Accessibility (DEIA) Committee to implement racial equity-based solutions and an ongoing DEIA Training Series. Externally, this means ensuring our organization adequately serves communities of color (recent data shows that 63% of individuals directly served by the organization identify as people of color). Our offices will be closed today, but our hearts and minds are open, ready and dedicated to putting the work into action.

Every white member of the Botivo team has to complete an anti racism course when they join, and here is why. I once worked on a big project exploring how best to support racial equity within businesses. The biggest insight that came out of conversations with global majority communities was ‘do the work’ and stop relying on non-white employees to educate their white colleagues. Diversity and Inclusion programs are a must but in order to create a true culture of inclusion and openness we ALL need to confront and work on our unconscious biases. Ticking a box is not enough, creating a truly inclusive culture from the ground up is a MUST. Yesterday we all completed our first course - an introduction to anti racism. It’s not the end of our journey, it’s the very very BEGINNING. But for those interested in doing the same for their teams I cannot recommend Jess Mally(www.jessmally.com) enough and recommend getting in touch with her or other great educators like Nova Reid to become better businesses and allies for global majority communities.

This Black History Month, we are proud to be in community with groups like BLOC, an organization having face-to-face conversations on the ground, transforming Milwaukee's Black community one door knock at a time. They are invested in building long-term political power, reimagining what public safety looks like, empowering leaders with tools to evoke change, and ending mass incarceration and the over-policing of Black communities, two of the remaining vestiges of American chattel slavery. https://lnkd.in/ehKeqxF

Honoring Medgar Evers' Courageous Legacy at SSW Law Group As we mark the beginning of Black History Month, we honor the resilient spirit of Medgar Evers, a true champion of civil rights. At SSW Law Group, we draw inspiration from Evers' unwavering dedication to justice and equality. Evers' legacy underscores the transformative power of the legal profession in shaping a fairer society. As a 100% black-owned law firm, we proudly carry his torch forward, committed to principles of justice and equal rights for all. In the face of adversity, Evers declared, "You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea." His words resonate deeply with us as we renew our pledge to advocate for justice, one case at a time. Join us in celebrating Medgar Evers' enduring legacy this Black History Month, as we strive for a world where justice and equality reign supreme. #BHM #BlackHistoryMonth #SSWLawGroup #MedgarEvers #LegalProfession #Justice #Equality #Legacy #Advocacy #Diversity #Inclusion 🌟

As we celebrate Black History Month, let's remember the fight for fair housing and its enduring importance. We can honor the sacrifices of those who came before us by: 🔸Educating ourselves and others about the history of housing discrimination. 🔸Supporting organizations that advocate for fair housing. 🔸Holding our leaders accountable for upholding the Fair Housing Act and promoting policies that advance racial equity in housing. By working together, we can build a future where everyone, regardless of race or background, has access to safe, affordable, and quality housing. . . . . #propertymanagement #dcrealestate #coliving #tenant #colivingspaces #colivingindc #propertyinvestment #realestatemanagement #househuntingdc #rentingindc #washingtondc #dcliving

Today marks the anniversary of the tragic death of George Floyd, a moment that sparked a global movement for racial justice and equality. As we reflect on this significant day, it is essential to acknowledge the impact it has had on our society and recommit ourselves to the ongoing work of diversity, equity and inclusion. Over the past year, the media has been filled with both positive and negative narratives surrounding DEI efforts. While it is disheartening to see negativity, we must remember that progress often faces resistance. It is during these challenging times that our dedication to the cause becomes even more critical. To my fellow DEI practitioners, your commitment is unwavering; thank you! But we must keep advocating for positive change. Remember, our collective efforts towards DEI are not confined to a single day or moment. It is a journey that requires continuous learning, growth, and action. Let us honor George Floyd's memory by reaffirming our commitment to creating a more inclusive and equitable world. Together, we can continue making a difference! #GeorgeFloyd #RacialJustice #DEI
